I broke down in a car park at about 5pm. Near to Cheltenham.

No terms were provided and I thought that whenever you take out an agreement or service you should be advised of terms especially in regards to cancelation. I couldn't find out what I had signed up for until I got home.

I am not sure why I was forced to take out a full membership just to get stated. Wouldn't have minded if I'd paid about £60 for the callout but feel I have been signed up to something that wasn't what I expected.

To add insult to injury all the prices for memebership are much less and come with 'immediate cover'. And there is an offer of 40% off.

It all feels a bit wrong and had I been able to make an informed descision I probably wouldn't have agreed.

What would you have done? The premium is because you had broken down. I seriously don't see what you are complaining about. As I said, it happened to me, and I phoned my Dad. He researched on the net for about 20 minutes and told me the prices - Green Flag are best for joining "on the road" but they only tow you 10 miles.
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?

More misinformation on this topic from atrixblue.

When looking for comprehensive cover, it would be very unusual were windscreen cover not part of the policy with no charge involved for this.

(And it would also be very unusual to see it being offered as an optional extra if you were looking for third party cover!)

not on about thrid party cover wind your kneck in. people are miss reading what point i'm trying to make.

i know its an extra but when getting the quote when entering dtails as i said its usually ticked yes you would like brakedown cover, unless you de-select the check box it will be in your final quote and then onto purchase. compare sites will list brakedown as a extra when comparing prices. i'm on about going direct to the insurers website quotation.

    totally disagree
anytime ive went online for quotes breakdown cover has been excluded from the cheaper quotes and clearly shown if its included in the pricier quotes
I dont need to check what i bought as its not exactly rocket science to look at what a policy includes or excludes...............

    eg

yeh given youve gone on a compare site it has to be listed as extra. i'm on about going direct to a insurers website, not a compare site. and youve gone straight to the end for the results, tell when entering details, did you select or deselct the check box for breakdown cover?

Sorry, couldn't resist, but Direct Line (my insurer) certainly doesn't automatically include breakdown cover.

    that is the default setting
i would have to select to show those offering only inclusive breakdown cover
as you can see by the left hand box
ergo its not included as standard on the fully comp policies listed

just did a quote with Hastings(as they offer with and without breakdown on the compare site)
    breakdown is not automatically added
    when you select buy now.
it brings another screen with 3 breakdown options
    none are ticked already
