The OP is a fool. Some of us got breakdown cover for less than a tenner via Top Cashback. I have absolutely no sympathy. Members should not subsidise non members.

Not "usually" at all included as part of "fully comp". (RAC/Green Flag/AA etc wouldn't have many members were you correct)

    In fact it's most unusual!

no not unuasual to me, direct line has it in their policy as an optional extra, so does tesco, admiral, aviva.

direct line has it as £35.00 a year optional extra.

an when buying online unless you de-select it will be included in the quote and buy. hence why saying check your policy for the cover!

but unless your carefull and read the optional extras tab boxes when applying for insurance online youll find theyre ticked for you you have to deselect them so not to purchase it that what makes it optional. like windscreen cover is optional but its ticked ready for you unless you untick it it will be added to your policy.

many people fly through the details online and buy not knowing whats "included" in the policy that is optional.

so yes its USUALLY included unless you unticked it the matter on phone purchases they have to ask you do you want it included so they can deselect it from their system to quote you an accurate price for fully comp.

so here's a challenge for you all if you bought online, check your policy to see what extra's you have that you thought you didnt have.

    totally disagree
anytime ive went online for quotes breakdown cover has been excluded from the cheaper quotes and clearly shown if its included in the pricier quotes
I dont need to check what i bought as its not exactly rocket science to look at what a policy includes or excludes...............

We (stupidly at the time) payed, I think, about £240 to join the AA a (good) few years ago when our car wouldn't start. It turned out to be the spark plugs needed replacing but we wouldn't have dreamed of trying to recover any money from them - accepting that was the cost for emergency cover! (Now as a MSE er I would never pay that much but back in those pre MSE days ....). We were fortunate to then get about £275 back shortly after as the AA was privatised! Such luck doesn't usually come our way!

Proud to be dealing with OUR debt ! :T

More misinformation on this topic from atrixblue.

When looking for comprehensive cover, it would be very unusual were windscreen cover not part of the policy with no charge involved for this.

(And it would also be very unusual to see it being offered as an optional extra if you were looking for third party cover!)
  • atrixblue - Breakdown is an optional extra, just dont be fooled into thinking some insurers like the AA included it their insurance, you are still paying for it.

    Op is having a laugh.

    Well done.

That's the first correct thing you have said about insurance.

It's a new year, another day older, but you're still so immature. PEE OFF from my post for the last time.
