Afternoon ladies - I agree with all thats been saying about having to be a rep for a few campaigns before becoming a SL. Its a shame that the upliner doesn't just apply some common sense to the situation - if they waited longer before recruiting the rep as a SL, they would probably make a better SL in the long run and earn everyone more money!

Finally got round to starting to recanvass some of my roads for the first time since christmas, I'm trying the note that has been recommended on here asking them to get in touch if they want a new book. Only problem was about half way through I got so desperate for the loo I had to come home!! Luckily I had gone in the car as its been raining on and off all morning. Came home fully intending on going back out but its started raining again so I decided to have my dinner and put my feet up instead! haha wonder why I haven't got round to recanvassing till now? ;) Rest can wait til tomorrow!

I agree with all those last few posts. I was asked about SLship by my SL and said I may be interested but in all honesty I am not ready for it and another thing I don't want to feel pushed into it. My SL is a lovely person but I don't feel I have had anough support from her really (but then I don't know the level of support I should be getting) I have pretty much just got on with it!

I think you should have been a rep for at least 6 months before being eligiable to do it. As for the bit for not making any money on your first camp well isn't that the norm?

Yes, totally agree - with both. (Having said that my first order was over £500 so, theoretically, I should've made something.... pretty sure I just took advantage of all the great deals though! :o )

Some upliners are more interested in building their teams than supporting/training them, which seems short-sighted to me. Don't actually know many SLs but a lovely rep has just joined my team because her previous SL pushed too hard until she agreed to be a TSL. The rep then realised she'd just too much on to be able to do it justice so gave backword. Her former SL dropped her like a stone... Her loss is my gain! :j

Incidentally, like reps, TSLs get a 14 day cooling off period too i.e. to change their mind. It's surprising how many upliners don't mention that to their newbies.....

A few posts and threads on Connects have left me pretty shocked at the quality of training and recruiting. I'm talking about SLs, not reps - there's always been posts where it's clear a rep has been left high and dry. However, over the last couple of weeks it seems like I keep reading "just finished my first campaign and signed up as a TSL", "became a rep in November and a TSL in December" and so on. I don't know whether to post this on Connects or not, just because with the wrong wording it could look like I'm singling out certain people when it's not really them I have the problem with. Sometimes I think they've been naive, but I think the responsibility lies with the upliner who convinced them to do it.

For example a rep came along asking questions about repping (basic ones that should have been covered by upliner), then asked about SL-ship (a couple of us advised to wait a while before doing that), their next thread only a day later was saying they'd decided to become a TSL, since then they've asked more about the basics of Avoning, their personal sales aren't high enough, they don't have the confidence to do a round (that would make some methods of recruiting very difficult). Basically every post makes it clear they're not fully prepared to be a rep, let alone able to train others. This isn't the fault of the individual - we're all ignorant about Avon when we start and it's a learning curve. I just worry about how this attitude to recruiting effects Avon's image (and subsequently our sales). I think it's really unprofessional to have "the blind leading the blind" (for want of a better phrase - I don't mean to offend anyone with sight problems). I don't want Avon to be a company that has a reputation for poor training and "managers" (in this case SLs) who don't know what they're doing.

I just had to get that off my chest :D

When I was first signed up my SL was really trying to convince me to go the whole way and go striaght to being a Sales Leader, even though I said more than once that I wanted to get to grips with being a rep first as like you say I didn't feel I knew enough, but she still persisted to the point where I began to feel quite uncomfortable and pressurized.

I think one massive problem Avon have is they seem to believe in quantity over quality, if sales leaders had to prove they had offered enough support to new rep's in some way before they received any kind of payment (not totally sure how SL commission works out) then things would be different.

I've seen so many posts on there where hardly anything has been explained one of the major things I've noticed is people being signed up and not being told about how territory works so they're going off shoving books through letterboxes only to be later told they can't do that.

    Anyway that's my rant over.

    OOOoooh, what note's that?
  • Went shopping today and was passing TK Maxx, so popped in to see if they did have the Anew creams, and they did - they had all the age range creams in, at £6.99 each, think I may start buying them from there, seeing as they're cheaper than we get them from the usual brochures! On the plus side though they were on the bottom shelf, so weren'e very noticeable and quite a few of the boxes didn't have the cellophane wrapper on them, although some did.

Update on my application form!! Thank you for all the advice everyone! I was shown to fill in the form with the new rep, and bring it home and submit online and then pop it in the post asap. Still not had reps appear for a few days doing it that way, hence my panic, but YIPEEE today my new rep is showing on my system so keeping my fingers crossed that this means I can get her logged into her account on Monday!!

only issue there is there NO avon 90 day returns guarantee so if they return it your out of pocket! Plus it wont count towards your sales figures towards anything like incentives or presidents club :)

off out to do my deliveries i should have done last night but felt too rubbish to even attempt! :(:( hate being ill and letting customers down! :(

A cynical mind could believe no cellophane could mean they are customer returns they have bought in bulk somewhere??? Would certainly explain the price???
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???

    I was thinking returns too
  • Do you have any other expenses (apart from the initial £15) when working with Avon?
DO you have to buy catalogues and stationary or is it all provided?

Im sure this information must be posted somewhere in the forum but I cant find it, sorry to be repetitive.
