I'm not saying SL is not rewarding, as it can be, just initially, when first starting out, you tend to pay out a lot more than you are actually going to earn to start with. Eventually when your team is up and running and you are doing well with it, you CAN make money from your team.
I went into it not fully understanding all the costs involved, etc, now,I have a much better idea, I would still do it, but with a much more awareness of all that is involved.0 -

I can imagine it is really rewarding but as I said it's good to know in advance that one has to pay out a lot to begin with cos atm I can't realy afford to do that!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
I love the pen idea!0

I love the pen idea!
Hi Donna, glad you found us (or my apologies if am on the wrong track).
I gave pens out this year as my little Christmas freebies along with a 2011 calendar with all my delivery dates highlighted! Last year I gave Bailey's truffles, which were well received but hopefully the pens will last longer! :rotfl:Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

a trainee SL, is an SL, who is tagged as a trainee, until they have 5 Reps in their team, but these Reps need to be putting orders in.
If you only have 1 or 2,you are a trainee SL.
I wouldn't recommend it just yet Pink Mummy. As MC said, there are a lot of costs involved, ones you don't get told about.....
you have to pay £25 for your SL starter kit, including bag, this is not a choice, it is compulsory
you have to pay for sign up kits
you have to pay for extra books for sign ups
you have to pay to go and see sign ups and then they change their minds, you have lost money
you have reps who go to debt
not trying to put you off, but I would be a Rep for a bit longer before considering Sales Leadership.
Thanks, A, for giving the warts and all picture.... Much better in my book to have that in your mind and then anything better is a bonus.
Not sure if it's "written in stone" but pretty sure your upliner should, however, continue to support you with sign-up packs and books until you manage to qualify. I struggled for ages to qualify (even though I had 5 newbies lined up before I applied....) and then one day my UL told me to set aside a day and she came with me to sign up 4 in one day - all allocated to my team. That got me off and running, which is why it's sooooo important to have a good upliner. :T
Even now, it still costs me money sometimes i.e. signing up people who are subsequently rejected by Avon, but am on the right track now and I just love being able to help people.... 'Sad', yes, I know but we can't help who we are, eh? :rotfl:Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

oh yes I forgot about that. When you first sign up, your upliner, ASM or SL has to provide the books for all your sign ups until you qualify as an SL. So it is in their interest to get you up and runnning! But after that all other costs are your own. Although you do get avon books cheaper when you are an SL, and you don't have to pay for them for 2 campaigns. But you can't return them just because you haven't had any sign ups.
MC, have you considered helping postpals? Google them. They could do with any support, even if it it just an email. I have today sent the last of my valentines cards to them.0 -

Thanks 'oracle'Wasn't totally sure but explains why I was 'frogmarched' into qualifying.... :rotfl:

As others have said, being a SL can be very hard work and costly - however, it is also rewarding, I wouldn't work full time and be a rep & a SL if I didn't enjoy it & earn money from it. It took me a while to qualify - I only had OH to sign up (which was why I became a SL as he was going to be joining anyway so that we had extra territory), but I got there and have been steadily building since. It can be costly - petrol to sign ups, I provide extra books & stuff which is at my own cost - but with time being limited I want to give everyone the best chance at succeeding so that they stay, if people don't place an order then you're out of pocket as we only get refunded when they place an order of at least mov. Sometimes you can be lucky, like I was last week, and although the lady had changed her mind, she passed me the few orders she had got (£40) and gave me by books back as I asked, so it was only the cost of the appointment pack. Usualy though, you just can't' get hold of the person!
Your upliner (the person who signed you up) will be providing your books & packs for all people you sign up within 2 camps of when you first sign someone - as they will be receive the money back. AFter that point, you get the refunds so you'll be buying the books. YOu could lucky, and if you don't qualify within 2 camps then they will keep providing the books until you do - but that would be at their own cost. If you're under an asm, then they will be unlikely to pass you leads to help you qualify - as it makes no difference to them if you qualify or not, if you're under a SL then they are more likely to help as it benefits us when you're fully qualified and will mean you're more likely to stay as a SL too as you'll starting to earn from your team.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Well brochure 5 looking good based on the few brochures I've collected so far.
Just to share, two of my favourite phrases I heard today:
My neighbours looking at my brochure and I've not even looked through it! (Goody, had planned to recanvass this road with C6 brochures but will try to secure neighbour as a regular).
Can I have the brochure a little longer, I want to order 3 lippys for my daughter... (I love your daughter!!)
There's lots more, lets have the ones that put a smile on your facePlease do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
