.......Then i checked the tracking on the Amazon package and it is coming from as far north of Scotland as you can imagine (why when it is so bad up there was i not informed of this?)
and there is a difference in what the tracking on Amazon tells me, and what the RM tracking tells me...
As said earlier, your package was nowhere near the North of Scotland and as it happens, the far North of Scotland was not affected as badly by the weather, as the central belt was so your comment is mistaken to start with.
Most (if not all?) companies will not routinely offer information such as which depot handles dispatch to your area, so I don't think Amazon acted badly in any way for doing doing so.
It was clear that the whole country was suffering delays and backlogs, and the Royal Mail tracking was nowhere near as accurate in all cases as it should have been (as told to me by a friend who works in the main sorting office in Edinburgh) so again, I'm not sure how Amazon could be firmly placed in the firing line for your annoyance.
It's possible that because the package was delayed, Amazon was able to recall it which may have been why you received a refund earlier than originally stated?
We all have things that bug us that wouldn't annoy others, but what's done is done. Recent events were outwith the norm and many people and services were affected, is it really worth giving the situation any more of your time or thoughts?Herman - MP for all!0 -
the package wasn't even passed to RM that's how they could offer a refund straight away. it was just sitting there waiting for Santa's little elves.
Just a courtesy e-mail saying "oops, sorry this ain't gonna happen"
is that too much to ask? hell even on the 23rd or 24th would have been better than nothing.Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

no, i saved my sarcasm till after their response has !!!!ed me off.
Obviously i have upset some with geographic knowledge of Sweatland. a quick search on Google just showed a northern tip with no surrounds to suggest it was on the west coast. Apologies to all those offended, go get yourselves a deepfried mars bar and chill out.
9 days before was maybe pushng it, but everything else arrived (stuff even ordered on the 20th arrived) except for something from Firebox which is just down the road...
Sweatland? Get a grip!! Why did you leave it till Christmas Eve before you contacted them?0 -

Unless they stated that they have the package back it may still turn up in the NY.
A family member ordered some items from amazon in early December, had the dispatch email but after a week or so had an email from them (oddly went to spam not the inbox) saying if delivery wasnt before 23rd to contact them and get a full refund. As it wasn't delivered they did and got the refund but the package was delivered this week.
TBH in general I think they have handled the weather/slow delivery issues quite well what with offering refunds they weren't obliged to offer in an attempt to make sure people could try to source things elsewhere. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I don't think you can blame Amazon, usually they are fine however we have had ridiculous weather recently which has messed up the post. I ordered stuff on the 14th of december as well and like you i chose the free super saver delivery to save money and the goods finally arrived yesterday (obviously too late for xmas but i suspected this might happen so ordered my presents with express delivery). I know they give the estimated delivery date but thats obviously if nothing major goes wrong with the postal system. Frankly that close to xmas if they had to be their for xmas day you should have paid for express delivery, the weather was drastic but not a shock and there was always going to be problems, for a sake of £6 you should have paid for courier delivery and everyones presents would have arrived well in time. Its annoying when these things happen but i don't think you can blame Amazon for extraordinary conditions, they just basically post stuff and super saver means second class! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I ordered on the 6th December but the DVDs and CDs didn't arrive until the 22nd, these came from EU s.a.r.l. everything else ordered arrived pretty quickly.
There seems to be a problem particularly with items coming from EU s.a.r.l as you can see here (though I don't know if this applied to the OP)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/tag/deals/forum/ref=cm_cd_et_up_redir?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1DEIHNWYF5SA9&cdPage=5&cdSort=oldest&cdThread=Tx1N96S8V0ZL2F9&displayType=tagsDetail&newContentID=Mx2CCD9S8ZVUEV8#Mx2CCD9S8ZVUEV8
s.a.r.l is just the legal entity - the equivilant of Inc in the US. This doesn't actually have any impact on where the goods are shipped from in the EU.
I ordered a number of items via Amazon (registered as Amazon s.a.r.l) and they were sent from UK address' via standard delivery methods.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
