See? I've been paying close attention. Such lovely, lovely doggies. I'm especially taken with Jerry.

Son of Erin and Percy are very handsome indeed. Isn't Percy a great name for a dawg?

Oh I see, The rescue i'm going to lol. Yeah Jerry is one that i'm looking at as well as Spirit who will be on their website by tomorrow. They are the two who are ok with small dogs although Jerry is a lurcher so i'm not sure if i'd be able to handle him because are these dogs not known to pull you over if they see something in the distance to chase?

Kimberley, I'm sorry but I would give Poppy a miss and leave her for someone without a dog who could give her 100% attention to get her used to being in a house.
With her not being used to it, you'd have double the problem, both settling her in a house and getting her used to your dog ... and the fact that she was more than a bit interested today ... well, that would put me off.

If those other two are clean and used to other dogs, then I would wait and see them. Whichever dog you choose, it's got to be the right one for your home and your little dog so I'd wait and go visit them.
I know ... waiting is so hard ... !! But it'll be worth it!
I can't tell you how excited I am for you!

I'm thinking the same thing as well so will see the two Greys next week, well one I have been informed is a Lurcher. I didn't know that until I saw his profile on the rescues website. They look just like Greyhounds.

Nope/ Lurchers are as sight driven as other sighthounds (and I know lurchers are often only half sight hound..but they ACT like sighthunds usually). All sight hounds have the potential to have a strong urge to chase. They don't all follow this and a lurcher of a greyhound build is no more likely to pull you over than a grey hound is. If you do fall for a ''tugger'' there are lots of ways to deal with this simply...a halti, for example. :) and working on manners.

Awwww - Percy says thankyou very much for saying how nice he is - cos of course he never gets any love or attention from me.... He hates mud and snow, really doesnt do getting dirty at all,but its quite funny to watch !! He does love his new fleece though - you are right, its very snuggly!! He came to me with huge bald patches on both his hind legs, and under his belly.Hes got grease in the pores all over his belly, and gets boils sometimes - but the longer hes with me,the softer his skin has become and the more fluffy as the hair grows back.

There are two other things to warn about - Ive only just remembered now, they have wind. BAAAAAAD wind.... specially if visitors are round.... and nothing you feed seems to make the blindest bit of difference.
and secondly - soft toys. make sure you keep them all WELL out of reach, Percy was hugely in disgrace when my sister in law stayed at home, cos he went in to investigate what she was doing, and she had left the care bear she was given when she was born right in the centre of the bed.... it didnt last long. (not sure who was in more trouble - him for killing it, or me for my first reaction being "well how stupid is that, leaving it out for him to find?? Its what he does - find fluffy thing, kill it" !!!)
and dont expect any squeaky toys to last very long.....

still wouldnt swap him ;) xx

Oh yes, the wind. :( Getting diet right helps...a little.

My dog has her on stuffed toys...she loves finding the squeaker in them then squeaking it over and over an over.

Mine is ok about mud/snow etc. If her fet et cold in the morning she goes for a break in the horse barn, then comes out again.

Bare patches, even with soft bedding can be a problem. Mine has a baldy bit on her chest where it hits the bed first/rubs on her clothes and I just can't get hair back there. re cloths, I like Owens very regal jacket. Mine has an equafleece suit which is great, and an equafleece tshirt suit for wearing under other dog coats. I find hem best for her, as she dislikes fastenings on her clothes and these she finds very acceptable.

:) I bought Percy a HUGE blue fluffy octopus for Christmas - had 8 legs, with squeekers in each foot, and two in his head.... it lasted 10 seconds ( i kid you not) ebfore the first leg came off - then he had a hole ripped in his head, and within a couple of minutes the squeekers were no more.... :( to be fair, every so often he pounces on it - so Im not going to throw it just yet, more than my life is worth - hes not disinclined to sleep with his bum up the bed and fart if he thinks I need waking up at the best of times - if I upset him it gets worse !!!

then he "rescued" Maisy from her pink fluffy turtle. Thankfully shes just as happy to carry around the disembowled bodies !!

Oooh the wind - it is awful and so varied - all appalling though.

Mine goes through spells of bad and really bad and it really doesn't matter what he eats.

The only time he hasn't had wind was when he was on strong antibiotics as he has a condition which affects his claws.
