Hi and thank you for the helpfull replies. Its so reassuring to know there are others who know what its like and understand what I meant. I will (and always did intend to) persevere.
We do keep our dogs warm, they both have their own beds with extra padding in them (donuts with a dog pillow and old sleeping bags inside the hole) they also have a duvet each if they want to lie stretched out. Both have fleece blankets which when they are 'put to bed' are thrown over them (the Greyhound prefers it if he is under it completely like a tent but the Lurcher Collie often prefers to shake it off). The central heating is often on until just before we go to bed and then we swithch the heater on in the conservatry where they sleep to keep the dogs warm through the night. We wont allow them in the bedroom with us as they end up under our duvet and we end up waking up cold, our bedroom like the bathroom is about the only dog free zone in our house so its nice to get a bit of rest and space when we can.
As for the poop I will ask hubby to take note when he walks the dogs!
He certainly does mope more when hubby isnt around. Yet he comes running to me for reassurance whether he is home or not just like our other dog.
Sometimes its quite soothing and at night he can sound like an owl as he chatters away. Other times its like dog kareoke and I am only glad Simon Cowel isnt here to judge him !
Thanks for the replies again.Failure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.

Hi there - sounds like hubby is the pack leader. So perhaps a bit of separation anxiety. Quite tough to solve - perhaps others on here can help advise on that. When hubby is home the dog is celebrating that with you - our dog was so happy when one of our cats returned from the vet. He kept running around and jumping around and trying to kiss the cat! Cat = not impressed! The dog was merely celebrating that the whole pack was together again
Are you going to take doggie to the vets to double check health too?Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

My girl and I get on well with equafleece dog suits but zooplus have this on sale

which looks good for coler/wetter days on the yard. Having measured her she might squeeze into the largest size but I doubt it. It is quite hard to find good robust coats for greys, rough enough for walks or comfy enough for cold nights. Equafleece are the best I've found. I wondered if other grey owners have good tips for where to buy coats that are a good fit0 -
If you live near any of the racing tracks give them a ring. Often they have RGT stalls inside that sell very good quality coats. If often seen sort of mobile greyhound shops run from the back of vans at tracks selling such things. Also have you tried ebay?Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

I bought a few coats for my whippets from Jan's Gifts and they're good quality, reasonably priced. They don't cover the entirety of the dog like the one in your link but then my whippets probably wouldn't like me to put something like that on them.
They sell Greyhound coats too, so it might be worth a look - http://www.jansgifts.co.uk/list.php?type_id=1110 -

Would she really need a suit with legs as greys tend not to get that mud coated. I hate those folded hoods on most greyhound coats so mine came from a maker on ebay which i can't see now, but have heard the blizzard brand or st roch are decent winter coats & on ebay and if you already have an equafleece she could wear it on top for extra warmth or use a rain mac if not so cold just to keep dirt off0

Hohohoho, they do here! My grey (and my other dog) are spoilt house pets by night and farm and yards dogs by day (or when ever I am in and out). She doesn't like going out in heavy rain, but she hates being left in more. She sprints everyday across the farm land, whatever the weather, and gets mud up legs, over belly, on her sides and back. I don;t want to have to bath her when its cold (especially as next winter we might not have heating, so she'll nly have a pig lamp much of the time), but I don't want to lock her out of the clean part of the house, or leave her in when helping me gives her such pleasure! with the equafleeces I have one on and one in the wash through most of winter, but we're thinking of two more, one for ''pyjamas'' and one for a clean one when I can't get the washed one dry.:o
Thanks all for the links and ideas:)0 -

Great site.. Really shouldn't look at things like that, as one of the fleece jumpers would do our lurcher great as the coat he has now is fastened by velcro and when he runs after his ball it tends to come undone.0
