Hello all...unofficial me....and I have to confess if I was trying to stick to this challenge I'd be in BIG trouble now...went to a big TK Maxx last weekend (not one that I'd been to before but my friend always gets great stuff there and I was over that way picking up a lawnmower from fleabay)...was doing REALLY well(ish)...picked up loads of stufff, tried it on (now isn't that a performance in there now?) and stuck with one 'keeper' top (grey and black with a lace panel down the back from Modbox range) and one floaty dress that needed a slight alteration and was a 'maybe'. THEN I saw a gorgeous cream mac by Antoni and Alison, thought there were none in my size but turns out one on a L hanger was actually a S (although still marked at UK 10) - tried it on and immediatly got two comments from a woman and her daughter so I thought I'd get it and then see again at home. Then the cashier also commented about how lovely it was too. OH wasn't so sure until I tried it on and although I'm stupidly hung up on it being a 10 (I norm buy 6-8 - but it fits fine so I must get over that!) I think it's a keeper. It's got puffy shoulders and navy circles/swirls on it and would look fab when Spring gets here....the down side is it was still £49.99.....

Oh, but I also got a bargain pair of pj bums for £3.50 from Matalan...after the coat it's what i'll be wearing for the forseeable future lol!!!!

    Need for 2011
winter boots for work - seen a pair on amazon for £45 - just deciding about these
**winter boots for me** exempt (saving and exempt from this challenge as am saving for them in the SPC)
    underwear
couple pairs pjs - might pass on this one and make do until next winter with 1 new pair
tights will look in the sale for a couple of reduced thick pairs
small amount of summer clothing dress/skirt/few tops
small amount of workwear - eg work trousers/jumper or 2
small amount of winter wear - eg trousers/skirt/jumper or 2

    Just calculated rough costs - boots (£45), tights (£10), underwear (£35), pjs (£5) = approx £95

    Leaves £155 for everything else

    Total £250 for 2011

£20 per month equivalent plus one month at £30

    Spent so far
    Tights - £6.75 for 4 pairs plus £6 on some bodyshaper tights from M+S TOTAL = £12.75 /£10

Have enough for winter now and shouldn't need to buy anymore this year

Pjs and Boots - Decided to make do with winter pjs and get a new pair later this year. Also decided to make do with my winter shoes and make use of a pair I found in the wardrobe I hadn't worn for ages. Have worn these loads and had lots of nice comments about them. They might not last until next year as they are getting a bit hammered and they were already quite old

Still saving for my Dubarry Boots £60 so far saved, also will have a look on amazon for some cheap work boots in the summer in the sale

Still need some workwear and some summer things for me

Have a little shopping trip planned for next week to spend my M+S gift card and I'll put £20 towards this to make a £50 budget and see what I can get for this. I'm on the look out for some nice coral coloured tops and maybe a skirt

Apart from that I'll try my new outfit out next week put together from the wardrobe with new black top to wear under it and see how that goes.

Seriously need to stay out of the shops to make the budget last :D

    Fed up and skint --

If you are going to spend £50 - why not spend £10 of that in the food court first? They give you a voucher for £10 off a £50 clothes spend, so you can have a yummy tea and clothes for the same price :)

Really? Is that right? I hope so then that's a good result :D

On Friday 11th if I spend £10 in the food court on food then they give me £10 voucher off a £50 spend - result if that's the case. I'd better check when I get there at mad lunchtime rush hour!

  • I'm thinking I'm gonna pull out of this challenge Lula - for a couple of reasons

    1. have given up smoking & put weight on so recently had to go up 2 sizes, am now trying to diet & exercising but that took a huge chunk out of my alloted budget

    2. I did stick to it last year & came in under budget which was fantastc but there's only so long second hand clothes will last!

and 3. I am no longer in debt and while I'm trying to still be frugal, shop around for things & of course continue to be frugal I don't need to be as restrictive as I was l;ast yeart

I'm still going forth with my knowledge of how to get the things I want off of ebay for a fraction of the price and getting things in the sale out of season - for example oday rdered off of the office sale 1 pair of winter boots (leather), 1 pair of gladiator sandles & 1 pair of flats total cost £63 pre sale cost £215!!!

I wish you all the best with this - I had such a blast with it last year x

    :( Yet more to declare

I have spent £33 in New Look -
    brown ankle boots
    black flat ankle boots
    blue jumper
    grey casual top
    blue stripy casual top

On the plus side all in the sale but am worried I've set my budget too low for the year as clothes are my downfall. Must be strong from now on and avoid the big red sale signs.......oh but I love a bargain!............
  • Liberated a jacket I bought in Asda in the sale about two years ago, and it suddenly looked quite fashionable! Also bought a new fleece in M & S but had some tokens so only £3 to pay.

    Hey all...

Well, I have a couple of little problems. Although I have been trying very hard with this challange (I know my replies on here dont really appear that way, but I genuinely have in comparison to what I used to spend) I have managed to completely loose track of what I have spent, i THINK i have spent £150 - however this could be a little higher, this is all because I do lots of returns. Anybody think it'd be cheating to just get into the mindset ive spent £150 and not worry if I have spent a few pounds more?

    Good!

Another problem... I have been invited, to a very stylish family friends wedding reception... mid April. So I have no time to save up for an outfit, reason being I will have to buy it in the next couple of weeks because I am going away.

    Urgh.

However, I have got a dress in my wardrobe, which I brought just over a month ago. I am not sure i'll wear it. So... thinking of returning it back to the shop sans recept and doing an exchange for a dress i've seen in there. Hopefully meaning I wont have a declare for an outfit of very much.

    YAY

Regarding my recent Dorothy perkins splurge. I have decided to reassess the dresses I have brought, to decide if I truely love them. Also the cardigan I brought, I am almost decided to return it as although a different pattern I have a cardigan already with the same base shade.

    YAY.

Got a free eyeshadow and makeup brush yesterday from Bodyshop. And an eye pencil that there giving away.. My boyfriend accidently dropped my makeup brush in oil (dont ask) so he replaced it for me :) god love him. I had one of them £10 off £25 spend vouchers in my purse (didnt have my grupon tho, damn!) so hes given me £10 - I added £5 to buy a little gift for my mum. So... freeeee.

Also.. he's very sweetly offered to buy me a coloured blazer that I am after in order to help me with this challange a little :) Going to wait to get it until next saturday though, as got one of those £5 off £30 spend vouches, going to use that and get my sisters may birthday pressie very cheaply :)

So ... onto today onwards and upwards ...

    £1.99 to declare today.

(Sorry if anybody thinks why the heck is she rambeling on, just come on and give your figure !!)

Now I know why everyone set higher budgets!! Have updated my signature to include the £4.20 I spent on a top in the Debenhams sale - I did use an old gift card towards the cost so convinced myself it was an acceptable purchase!

Least we are into a quarter of the way through the year!

£10 on a top in Asda. Black and whote stripes, looks good with jeans and a belt - and am fed up of wearing the same things all the time so fancied a little treat :) Tried a few things on whilst I was in town but couldn't bring myself to buy a bigger size :o I have £50 Arcadia vouchers and really want some dark jeans but nothing looked right - I'm not quite big enough for the next size yet (!) it's back to the diet for now :p

Was also very tempted by a DKNY handbag but £240
Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!
