    Hi All,

Dropping in to report a minor spend of £2.00 on a lovely striped G-Star cardigan from the local cate protection charity shop :) smart enough for work and casual enough for jeans perfect :)

Otherwise have been doing very well, especially since i keep forgetting to buy tights.

now if i can only stay away from white stuff for the rest of the year i might be ok lol

Managed to not cave in to the Tianna B dress on QVC - felt tempted at several points throughout the day but have stayed strong and not bought it. Need to wear what I have already some more rather than once and then never again

For my night out in 2 weeks have 3 dresses could wear - just need a pair of tights and have several pairs of shoes I can wear that I've worn approx once or twice.

Thank goodness for this challenge or I think I would have spent the best part of £40 by now

  • Hello Everybody,

Happy New Clothes to (some of) you and me!

As I said, in to town today. Had a shoofty at the M&S sale bras but nothing there. Then I went to Toast to return a dressing gown that had shrunk in the wash.

They gave me store credit (gown was a present from my DM, so counts as vouchers in my book!) and I used it to buy a dress I've had my eye on for a while - silk, just above the knee, "watercolour" (ie. splodgy-blurry) print in blue-black on cream. With the sale discount and my credit I paid £28 for it (full price £195) :j

It will be lovely for work, and posh play, and thinking about it would be great with my mother's hand-me-down Max Mara belt, if I can get around to fixing it - the buckle is plastic, and the tongue (the pointy bit that goes through the holes, I think that's the right word for it) is broken. Will take a bit of research to find out how to fix it, so if anybody has any pointer/ideas they would be very welcome!

I also had a thought today - although I'm not counting accessories, shoes and coats I am going to "confess" them here, partly as if I have to come tell you guys about it I will think twice, and partly as a spending awareness exercise.

So, I have also bought this month:
    ASOS Shoes boots: £23
    Toast scarf: £15

So the second item is demonstrating the point - bargain dress led to unnecessary (if lovely) scarf. A trap I'm sure lots of you know well :D

I don't regret the shoes at all though - they're hot!

Re the belt, I would try taking it to a real cobbler ( not your Timpson's) more an individual one who may be able to help. They can work miracles in leather & have lots of clever gadgets, good luck :)
  • hi romylou
    good luck in your search
hope you get a really lovely bargain piece!
  • £2 spent today on gorgeous hand knit cardigan - a light brown flecked wool, beautiful cable pattern on the front, frill hem, and puff sleeves. It probably has about £35 worth of wool in it!

Hi all - £9.50 to declare, spent on M&S chocolate merino wool tights. I know it's a lot for a pair of tights, but they look good, are toasty warm and comfy and last for ever (and are a lot cheaper than the branded versions!) I've now got them in grey, navy and chocolate so that's my winter tights wardrobe sorted.

I got two pairs of M&S tights years ago, it'll be about 7 years ago for a fiver I think. I actually think someone's pinched them, they were still going strong last winter and hadn't got out of shape at all! So yes best pennies one can spend at good old Marks :)
