How to live on 65 per week?

I would really prefer for this thread not to sidetrack where it should not, it is about me, not anyone else, thanks for that.
I have just spoken to SKY and took movies out of the package, so down to £43 per month, apparently can not downgrade any more untill July next year (when I will cancel all together hopefully) as all is within the contract.
Will be calling T Mobile now, my contract is for £35 per month, not sure if the allow me to downgrade this.....
Then the pet insurance - I can not cancel the dog as I do have a third party and a large dog but cats' insurance can go as they will qualify for charity help where I pay a fraction of Goddard's cost.
Gas and electric, not sure if I could ask EDF to put prepaid meters in the flat? Would they do it free of charge if I am not in debt to them (yet)?
Water meter, may be an idea - but I pay water rates with my rent to the Council (council flat) so not sure how to go about that?
Thanks again everyone, all posts very much appreciated.0 -

Why have Sky at all if you don't watch it and your daughter's moving out?0

I hope that you'll manage to survive on what you get per week. I think that single people get the worst deal wen they find themselves out of a job. I hope that you find one soon.
PS - I'd feed my pets first too, but would try to cut back on the £100 per month that it costs you." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

FYI - my daughter does not smoke/drink/take drugs, very rude and inconsiderate of you to post this type of statement.
I didn't say she did do any of those or even insinuate it, sorry if you took it this way. But £1k for 3 months is a lot to spend if she isn't spending it on food or rent.
You say she budgets, but if she really was, she'd be in the same position as myself.
Good luck yourself.0 -

If your choice is to go bankrupt you can stop paying Sky and stop paying your mobile contract and go PAYG. As you are going bankrupt it will have zero affect on your credit rating and you will save more money.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I think it is a valid point - if she has such low outgoings, can she not help you out? You have helped her for long enough. If my parents found themselves in this situation, I would do everything I can to help.Oldernotwiser wrote: »Why have Sky at all if you don't watch it and your daughter's moving out?
I think the OP is still in contract, however from experience if she keeps trying they will at least half the price of her contract for six months.Gone ... or have I?0 -
You do not know nothing about my daughter so please stop referring to her in any way. This thread is not about her. Thank you.
Good thinking about the SKY and Mobile, did not think about that possibility (if it is legal) so thanks for that.0 -
Could your daughter not help out just a little? When I was an apprentice earning £75 a week I still have my mum a bit as did my other siblings. I think it's only fair really, wouldn't need to be a huge amount but surely she could manage a little something? Every little helps as they say...0

You want to know how it is possible to live on £65 per week. Having another adult in the household is relevant to that. If they were a lodger or a partner would you expect them to contribute?Gone ... or have I?0
