Do try the HA Mooloo, but if you get no where...

we have a bit of a mould problem and I have found anti mould paint very helpful - totally sorted the front room problem for the last 2 years. It's not cheap of course, but available at DIY places.
I am right now taking a break from painting our bathroom ceiling and one wall with it.

Yes that is probably the best way to go. However I think i need to get it off of the walls first?
Going to have to make notes in my Lifebook diary, and get myself in order. Then I will try and be back on track for sorting out all of the little odds and ends.:D
this evening its hopefully going to be a quiet one, catching up on some recorded TV, and maybe even a glass of wine.
As it was dark when we came back from the visit with twin1, dgd thinks that its later then normal, and has gone up to bed without a bath tonight. (will not kill her, but will save me the swamp afterwards). She has a DVD of Little Princess on that she was given for Christmas, and is happy as larry at the moment.
I will have to think about getting another Video player or DVD player for her/or downstairs. We will see how the funds go, and how it works out with the DVD player being in her room rather then downstairs.
    Have a good evening all.

Do you have problems with condensation in the kitchen and bathroom? That often results in mould and the cure is more ventilation.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Not sure about mooloo, but that is our problem I am sure. And yet we leave the large bathroom window open most of the day, and certainly after every shower til we go out. The kitchen is open plan to the house and the only means of added ventilation would be to open the back door...not so goor at this time of year. Only get the mould porblem in autumn/winter.

Yes, mooloo, I spent Wednesday scrubbing it off with bleach, not a fun job.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

To be honest I think there is a problem with my windows in most of the house, as well as the complete backwall that is the kitchen and bathroom. The cupboards with the food in at the bottom even have mould at the back of them. I had to throw out the flour the other day, as it was all mouldy on the packet. I can only keep tins, jars and bottles in there at the moment. But the wall is covered by the units so I cannot clean that.
I have a vent on full time in the bathroom and the door is open into the kitchen all the time. I cannot always open the window. The kitchen doesnt seem to have a ventilation point other then to open a window which I cannot easily reach I must admit. So I tend to have to open the back door, which is a bit chilly for us, as there is no longer a door between the kitchen and the sittingroom, to accommodate my fridge freezer and the table. Something had to go. I will seek more advice. But the mould in the windows upstairs I think are due to the double glazing or what ever it is being "shot". There is mist inbetween the glass all the time. The front door and the back door are dripping with condensation, even when the heating is not that high. Around 16 onwards and it drips. Rain also comes in under the door in the kitchen. There is no drip rail, or kick rail on the door. The toilet is filled straight from the mains, and when the water is cold in the winter, it drips with condensation as well. I have a towel on the floor beneath it to catch it, but of course thats then where the worst mould is behind the loo.

Yes I must go and get it sorted out.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

My DD, who works in the local co-op, was saying that those people using electricity keys for meters and gas cards should be in line for some free gas/ electric - up to 120 pounds I think. A voucher scheme via the fuel companies for those in fuel poverty? She was learning how to apply the vouchers today. Dont know if anyone has heard about it?

DD was also moaning about working at the co-op on a Friday night:eek: However she was also saying that she doesnt class her time with Mooloo and DGD as "work".

I too am blessed to have your friendship. Hopefully we can get back into a routine next week that includes a cuppa at cafe H x

Just going out to see Twin2 today. Back as soon as I can to hybernate in the warmth!. If I can get DGD to actually get dressed and out. She is being a madam once more. Testing my patience to the core.
Had a mammouth excertion to get the slow cooker out of the cupboards and onto the worktop. Not used in a long time. I had to move the sandwich toaster to get at it. Both were covered in powdery mould! So I have had to wash them before I can use them. The cupboard needs sorting out. What next.
Gammon in the slow cooker, but I cannot remember what to put in with it. Better have a bit of water and a bit of honey I think.

Mooloo, don't forget that mould can cause or contribute to all sorts of health problems, particularly chest problems or asthma or other allergies. Cleaning it off isn't the best thing as the spores get into the air and are then breathed in.
  • Nearly time for a new thread Mooloo, I know I don't post much but I do look in as often as I can and it's nice to see you looking more positive towards the future :j

btw do you remember that leopard print clutch bag you sent me? You'll be pleased to hear it is now used as a makeup bag by our lassie and goes everywhere with her :T

Thanks once again and here's to a new year, new thread and a new positive outlook for us all

This is called Warm Home Discount, it is automatic for people on Pension Credit Guarantee and depending on your supplier they are also doing it for people on Income based JSA, ESA and Income Support as long as you meet another criteria.

A client of mine had a letter through automatically from HM Treasury, I contacted her supplier and as she is on a pre-pay meter they will send her a code by post to then take to her local Paypoint to get the token to top up the meter.

If you do not have a pre-pay meter it will be deducted off your winter bill.

This has a bit more info http://www.southern-electric.co.uk/HelpAndAdvice/ExtraHelp/PriorityPlan/

but it is up to each supplier to decide the criteria for people on benefits other than Pension Credit Guarantee.
