I'm in on this one too! Will start with the understairs cupboard the place were things go to rest and are never seen again! I like the mineallmine's idea of 500 things out in 5 days but not sure I can manage unless useless bits of paper (recycled of course) counted, but I'll start with the cupboard and work my way through other rooms

    hi all

well i do need to declutter but my major problem is that i think i should sell things on ebay rather than just send to charity shop / freecycle and so i haeve bags of stuff (under the bed and in the garage) that i say i will ebay but i never have time to do it...

and other things i send to charity shops and then feel guilty that i should have sold them...

so what do you do? do you sell or do you just get rid?

we live on a very tight budget so could do with the money but also have no time to list things /post things etc...

aghg i want to declutter without the guilt:eek:

That's really strange, I'm the other way round! If I sell something I feel really guilty I haven't donated it to a charity shop. However broke I am I always reckon there's someone more badly off than me.

Give them to the charity shop! Someone else might as well have the benefit, and the charity the money, instead of them cluttering up your place. Would you really notice the few quid you might sell them for? You haven't missed that money so far - and what about all those that don't sell?

Just bag them up and drop them off - first thing tomorrow! DO IT! :D

Hi i'll be joining in for 2011, did try to this year but house looks worse than ever! Put all my extra toiletries away in the loft today and was shocked to find that i have nearly thirty body butters alone! Have made a list of what i have up there so i don't buy more in!

Artichoke i ebay three times a yr, i tend to do it over several days, iron and photo clothes/items one day, then spend a couple of evenings listing them rather than doing it all in one go, i don't get so fed up with doing it then either!
Haven't tried freecycling stuff yet, maybe need to get to grips with that in 2011.
I want to sort all the house out, the loft as i can't move up there and redecorate as many rooms as poss. At the moment i haven't even got anywhere to put the 3 boys' xmas pressies and 2 of them have birthdays coming up soon as well!

  • Hi there

    I will declutter....
the biggest room in the house, at the top is stuffed with stuff. Have loads of clothes to ebay, will do it, need to, have to! My eldest has a habit of putting what she doesn't want/like anymore in our bedroom, usually on the floor.
Getting a new kitchen at beginning of feb so have to make space to store all the stuff coming out for refit.

Going to apply the jedi rule that I have read about on here, just effing do it:rotfl:

Glad you like it, I nicked the idea! Someone on the old thread said they get rid of 100 things in 10 days every so often. Recently (with my health better) I set tougher targets. I'm attacking bad areas (understairs) so I'm getting rid of a lot of stuff. :o

So the question is to give or to sell stuff? I saw this guy in a charity shop today. He picked up a winter fleece jumper - the lady at the counter said that's a real bargain - he smiled and looked so chuffed. :A:o:A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Less things. Less stuff. More life.

  • can I join please? I lurked this year but didn't really do anything - and I so so so need to declutter. I moved from a large house to a 2 room flat a few years ago, and my stuff barely fitted in then. So you can imagine how bad it is now.......

My plan is to ebay anything I can to help with my debts - but I must be ruthless. Very hard as I'm such a horder.

    Im back on board!
I only caught the end of last years as i only joing MSE in nov. so i intend to be COMMITTED to this as much is possible for this self confessed hoarder of useless items and bits of paper that apparently hold sentimental value! as blimmin if!

To get me started im alsos going to steal the 'x amount out in x days' but for me, im going to aim low - 50 items on ebay/gumtree by end of Jan, 50 things to charity shop and 1 blue bin full of recycable papers etc. (blue bin is my recycling bin - i really need a bigger one!)

only thing with selling is i cant be bothered picturing everything and uploading to the comp.

    Good Luck everyone!

edit: 2 dvds on ebay tonight, that can go towards my 50 :) not really what i was thinking, but its a start.
