That's how my MIL got her last 3 cats, they just moved in. lol, and she now has a stray which she feeds, and it sleeps in a box on her front doorstep (OH calls it the cat's bungalow, lol!), as it's too nervous to come into the house. The cat we have now was abandoned on the other side of our garden fence when she was a kitten, so we took her in, and we also have another one which comes into our garden and eats any food that our one leaves, so it saves wasting it.Managed to finally finish cutting the hedge at the front yesterday afternoon just as the garden waste bin lorry came so it's nice and empty again! Was up in the loft yesterday so have filled another 2 CB ready for tomorrow -neighbours must wonder where it all comes from sometimes.
Nothing done for us this weekend, we've been away. Will crack on tomorrow. Hope to get some tiling done to try and get rid of the tiles I put in the downstairs loo. I put them in the way deliberately so that I had to get on and use them. We've had them a *hehem, few* years
and they really must go. I want a pretty house again.
Heck, why am I saying again, I've never had a pretty house. I want a pretty, finished house before the mortgage is cleared .Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Managed to get rid of 3 bags full of rubbish today after a small declutter over the weekend.
Used up some old baking stuff by making a scrummy tealoaf on Saturday morning and will finish off a bottle of wine tonight and add it to recycling pile.0 -

Had a quiet weekend at home, changed our plans and didn't go anywhere thanks to a well stocked freezer and cupboards we didn't even need to pop to the supermarket to compensate for this.
So the food stocks were decluttered a bit, a lot of dust from our bedroom was decluttered (how it gets so dusty I don't know - I want to move just so I can see if it's this house or us now!) lots of paper and other recycling out in the boxes in the garage ready for collection, more receipts and other things shredded, and general things like washing up, ironing and then lots of sewing done - making a cushion at the moment (and I'm kidding myself this is decluttering as once it's done the threads, fabric and cushion inside will take up less space than they do now!!
I can certainly see an improvement which is good - 2 major things to tackle next are my guiding things which are starting to take over a bit and things for our music group, which are doing similar and we're going to be stopping doing that soon so need to sort it so we can pass it on.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Hello all, I'm a lurker on this thread but rarely post. I love reading as it gives me the motivation to de-clutter my own house. This past few months I have:-
- De-cluttered all bedding and towels we don't use
- Shredded all old bank statments, bills etc
- changed all my accounts except our main bank account to online statements to stop all the filing
- Took 2 massive bags to the charity shop and have a bit more to go this week (clothes, books, bric a brac, etc)
- sold loads of stuff worth selling on Ebay and Amazon
- Painted the kitchen and downstairs loo
- thrown all out of date toiletries and make up (not much but still a waste)
- sold 10 CD's that won't sell on Ebay to Music magpie
- Got rid of all the uselss computer discs we've kept for years
- Cleared out the excess crockery and glasses to charity shop
- stopped buying things unless I genuinely need them
- Moved all our big suitcases and holdalls to the airing cupboard as it has a huge space that was underutilised and the cases were annoying me
- Re-arranged all the storage to make better use of it and put all things together that ought to be
- De-cluttered the understairs cupboard and moved things around in there to make it more useable
- Recycled old spectacles at optician
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do with a large collection of old knitting needles and patterns belonging to my mum? She can no longer use them due to illness. I've emailed a knitting charity but have had no response, and I think if I gave them to a charity shop they would chuck them?

Knitting patterns and needles?
Probably worth ebaying, check the completed listings for recent sales.
Most charity shops I've been to have needles and patterns.
Is there a "stitch and !!!!!" group or crafting group nearby that would like donations?
Freecycle?

I now have 25 things listed on ebay, of which 11 are things my mum has given me to sell to put towards our holiday spending money
Every single thing of these either has a bid on it or at least one watcher....I have watchers on only 3 of my items and no bids. Obviously older stuff sells better (1980s knitting machine/table/patterns etc)! Can't wait for our things to sell so I can package them up and post them off and make some more space.
The fascia men have been here today so haven't got loads done, but did manage to do quite a few chores this morning as I didn't want to appear to be a lazy moo lol. When DD1 came home from school she and her sister cleared out yet more from their 'making boxes' and tipped out their pencil boxes and chucked anything that was broken or didn't work so their little corner is looking a lot neater.
The DDs went through all their tops on Saturday morning and we culled them a bit, a few for charity, a few for carboot/ebay, 1 to the recycle bin as it was stained and a few to the loft to store for DD2.Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

Managed to get 150 items listed on ebay this time, mostly DS's stuff, but also a few of our bits. Got 2 small ebay packages to send tomorrow morning if I have time before work, if not they'll have to go on Wednesday. This morning I got all our ebay stuff organized, as it was all over the spare room, but now I've put all the listed stuff in 2 big boxes, and the rest is stacked neatly in a few other boxes, ready for the next free listing day.
Must get some ironing done tomorrow as there is quite a pile building up on the armchair, but most of it will have to wait until Wednesday, as I'm working till 7.30 tomorrow night and won't feel like ironing when I get home.
Our visiting cat came round to see what he could get this evening, unfortunately our own cat was in the garden and she was not happy when I fussed the other cat, and every time I tried to fuss her so she didn't feel left out, she hit out and scratched my hand, and it didn't help when the other cat went into the kitchen and ate her food out of her bowl, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Decluttered 4 bin bags of mixed clothes to a charity collection last week, saved me hauling it round to the actual shop so I really filled them up!
It also saved me from decluttering anything FROM the shop!0
