o2 data bolt on package & useless 3G coverage?

I have to ask, why on Earth did you add another line if you found the service so poor? And O2 are a business, they will sell what a customer asks them for. It is down to yourself to check these things before you purchase them. A little personal responsibility goes a long way in these situations.
Because it was the cheapest option to get another iPhone at the time.
I understand o2 don't cater their packages area by area but selling a package knowing full well their coverage is below average still sticks in the throat. The data package is supposed to work without 3G so they can still push the package, not my fault it doesn't work even if I had checked out every single network in my area. It just seems that the networks are not being brought to task on the service they quite happily charge a lot of money for. Ofcom warned O2 to improve their 3G service, looks like they haven't yet.
Whats with all the high moral ground comments, too many phone company em[employees posting on here me thinks.0 -
Just because you are getting answers you do not want to hear, it doesn't make them any less truthful. I don't work for a network either.
Long story short, you don't have a leg to stand on. You knew you had poor coverage 18 months ago and then willingly took a second line with the same network. What did you expect to hear?Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0 -

The data package should work regardless of whether you have a 3G connection or not, so that could be a legitimate fault with the O2 network. Alternatively, it could be that it's just soooo slow that it simply appears to not be working because it's going to take a very long time to do anything productive with it.
As said, the networks cannot guarantee any sort of service in any particular place, so the onus is on the customer to do their homework beforehand, or take a chance.
No moral highground, just stating that you're going to have a very hard time convincing O2 to do anything about the service since you've been happy to accept said service for the last 18 months. If you wanted out, you should have done so within a few days of taking the service.0
