Hi recently i had a problem with my car and the auto centre say that pads are gone and they should replace discs as well.

I saw soem, codes for nationwide auto

my question is, how do I apply these codes d oi just 'tell them' when paying??
Also would change of break pads and discs qualify as major service? many thanks

Not a service just a change of discs and pads.

Best way to use the codes is to bin them and take the vehicle to a proper garage.

Agreed, the " proper garage " will also probably tell you that the discs do not require replacement.

thanks guys, honestly though i dotn know much about cars but when he showed me the problem it was sort of consistent.
I mean he said that when a groove has developed on the disc it would cause new pads to deteriorate more quickly. Looking at it there was groove (or protrusion of rims by approx 3-4mm)

I am new to the area I live in i really need this problem taken care of asap btu they cost has come at bad time.

I see they give discount for aa members ( i guess i could just show them the aa card for that)

but does anyoen know how i can 'apply' the discount codes without booking online as the actual work needed isnt in the options when booking on the website
  • ok i just called them (shoyuld have doen that in the first place tbh) they said they would give me the xmas 10% discoutn anyways and if i show them the aa card they will give me extar 5% discount so that saves me a about 25 quid which is cool.

So then in total that is approx 160 quid, for brakes and discs fitted does anyone know if that is 'reasonable' price?

its for an old astra about ten years old (but very low mileage)
i dont think they are like that in there, i asked them when they took a look if there was anything else wrong with it they said it was fine, except a bit of outer wear on the tyre which might mean tracking is off, but they said it was nothing to worry about.

No, I'm sure they won't worry about it.

dude like i say i dotn know hardly anythign about cars, the other time i had dealing with them i felt they were honest and competent, i dont know any reason i would feel otherwise because i dont know about these things, i just trust my instinct that the guy i was talking to was nice guy and being straight with me. Do nationwide autocentre have bad reputation?
I am nto sure if that is good price for my car but they give me 12month guarentee so I feel confident about it.
