Just popping in to say that I spent £3.00 today (£2.00 on 8 pints of milk and £1 on oranges). Added to that is the £1 savings stamp to go towards shopping later in the year.
And then there was 30p on the Sun and £3.50 on a SW recipe book (but that's not out of my grocery budget, just thought I'd tell you).
Got £2.50 ish in my purse to last me the rest of the week. Better make Shepherds pie tomorrow and roast my chicken. I came home to half a packet of sausages, so I ate the other half and some gone off bacon and eggs (if you go by the use by/best before date)0 -

Today should be a NSD for me - I'm at work, then seeing people this evening. The children are at their dad's every Tuesday night, and that's when I normally do my weekly shop, but as I have everything I need, and the ability to make what I don't have, I'm going to try to NOT go shopping on a Tuesday today. It will feel really weird, but the weekly shop thing is only a habit anyway! I'm trying really hard this year to only go shopping when I actually need stuff!
As an aside, I'm also hoping to go to an exercise class this evening when I've finished seeing people. This should also help me to not shop, as if I'm exercising I can't be in asda etc!!
Have a good MS day all!
PG xGrocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100
Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending0 -
Oh dear, oh dear. Popped to Asda for milk, bread and two weeks' petfood and loo roll (which would have blown the budget anyway) because I had a lift, but then spent another tenner on a few more bits for the freezer and some stuff on offer (2 for £1 Pot Noodles, 3 for £1 Ainsley cous cous, 50p Laughing Cow cheese).
Am a bit disappointed to have gone so much over my £50 target with two weeks still to go, but it is my first month and I'm still learning! Think my target for Feb will be a bit more realistic, keeping track of things this month should give me a better idea of what to aim for.
Dont worry!! it will happen to all of us at some point - thats life! but atleast its the first month of the year, there is another 11 to make positive changes and savings!PennyGrabber wrote: »Just been onto approved foods, and did a £30 order incl delivery. Then I deleted it all, as I don't actually need it or have space to store it! It was just stuff that I fancied, or that I wouldn't actually buy normally, therefore even though it was cheap, it was still wasted money, IYSWIM.
Wow, I'm getting better! On that virtuous note, I'm going to bed - at least I can spend as much as I want in my dreams! Caviar, champagne, decent cuts of meat, heinz etc etc etc (mouth waters!)...
Night all!

Popped into the Asian market on my way home last night, and finally got the dried sage, dried coriander and green cardomons I wanted, and added a bag of thai jasmine rice. Got a pear "compliments", which was tasty on my way home. A spend of €11.50, which was well under what I'd spend on same in regular supermarket (large bags of herbs and 2kg of rice).
Had the mince pie lasst night, which was tasy (half price offer last week) and made the rogan josh for tonight. DH used the last of the leftover roast beef in his sambo for today (it was a really tasty joint! We haven't had one as nice in a long time). DD had a conniption when she wasn't allowed have a desert or a piece of fruit until she finished not only her dinner but what went in her lunchbox to school (they send home the leftovers, so parents see and they don't have to pay extra for bins) - she'd only had half a sambo and a bite of cheese, but left half cheese, a full sambo and bunch grapes.
