I'm sat here implored more by the posts from complete & utter i'm sorry to say idiots than i am by the sad image depicted by the OP. Shaking my head in complete disbelief i feel compelled to write a reply so here it is..
I am far from a perfect person, both by my actions & sometimes what can be considered eccentric beliefs. I have been right at the very heart of the lower level of society personally, individually & in a relationship, and have obviously learnt to appreciate a great deal.
But i have so much to say on this subject tbh - WHAT IS BRITIAN COMING TO?? - I used to think it was those that 'take advantage' of the benefit system that were the problem. But i know think the problem starts at the top (upper class, government) & works its evil head downwards.
Lets get one thing straight: Britian is a mess because of a lot more than its benefit system. We've always been the society others laugh at, FIFA's attitude in the 2018 World Cup elections merely reconfirmed this - for decades we have had 'must haves' after everyone else (ie: film releases) i don't know if its because we are an island or what? Or maybe its because of the attitude our inbred inhabitants portray? And therein lies the problem!
We live in a society that literally BLEEDS you - out of work on benefits a downwards spiral - in work think yourself lucky your on minimum wage - live with a family member who happens to have even a little bit of fair government assistance & prepare to be penalised as if you're in the process of starting to form a lovenest/breeding round whatever you want to call it?
We all want the better things in life: and unfortunately live the way our society expects you to live & you will be lucky to be a shellsuit doting 78 year old with rotten teeth (yes all of us brits suffer from this i know but don't get me started). But what really peeves me off is the way our inhabitants stroll around casting judgement on others - do gooders that would make Mrs Mangle of Neighbours fame crawl back in her shell! For crying out loud take a good look at yourself..
I'm not looking to start anything here but remember one thing PLEASE! The cost of living has risen SHARPLY over the last decade or so. It wasn't easy before that i'm led to believe. My wage that seemed poor on leaving college is a small fortune to what is on offer right now. I don't have all the answers unfortunately but i would really like society in general to simply take a chill pill, and THINK before even the 1st judgemental thoughts of how others live enter their heads let alone leave their lips/fingers, that there will ALWAYS be means & ways to live better than our ridiculous way of life would lead us believe.
Now if this involves unlawful or even criminal activity - and i personally tolerate minor instances in mitigating circumstance - then fair enough give your input after all, freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. But if we are talking people just trying to have a little better than life would allow then just show some toleration that's all i ask?
And as for all the evil whispering - you know who you are - on the back of buses, in the corner at Tesco just remember one thing: One day YOU might be in that situation so just take that on board ok!

If I was out of work and claiming benefits paid for by others, I would not be sporting a £500 phone. Simple as that.0 -

Ever heard of a bad credit rating? Maybe the Dad works but all of his wage quite likely meagre goes on contributing to the household? And if we're all being honest it could well have been a £100 phone that happened to look swish, yet you can call it a certainty that someone would have that moment from afar: yadda yadda loser family hmmm oh yes i'm brainwashed its my money they're spending cue tabloid comic garbish - no on second thoughts give it a rest (for heavens sake).
That's the real problem with british society & culture IMHO besides cunning manipulative moneymen - those ruthless magagerial types, its everyday people like you or me that should get off of our high horse, sit back & realise that EVERYONE could be contributing to society at its current rate of pay & we'd STILL face the crap we all face day in day out.
We're not talking life or death after all just a situation of desperation & whatever the reason give them & those like them a break one day IT COULD BE YOU thats all i'm saying!

It is the iphone that gets me. It has very little advantage over a £10 phone for everyday use, but does seem to be a must have amongst many on very low incomes as a pure status symbol.
I'm guessing you don't have one then?
My iPhone is far, far superior to any phone I have ever owned. It's genuinely changed the way I go about my life.0 -

I had a hemorrhoid that did just that too, but I wouldn't spend £500.00 quid on it.Space available for rent0 -

My haemorrhoids came with 100 free minutes on the bog each morning and no internet access0 -
Guess what, since then i have been watching more and you know what, they all have iphones and pets..i have in my house my daughters friend who is a lovely girl but a nervous wreck who we have staying most weekends,The reason she stays most weekends is so we can make sure that she is getting fed well and not just pizza crap..
The poor girl stays off school at least two days a week because her mother has no money for petrol and she lives five miles from the school,The reason she has no money for petrol is because she values the price of a bottle of vodka more than her child's education..
last week my wife said she turned up in her car smelling of drink and my wife was worried sick letting the girl get in the car because who are we to stop her.
we had to explain to our daughter why she can not sleep over at her mates house because the mother has a habit of bringing strangers back to the house and there is no way we would risk that with our daughter
I can see the girl on Friday night when she turns up she really is blinking and moving with bad nerves but over the weekend she unwinds a bit..guess what the girl has a little dog one of those bull terrier type dogs that her mother got for her birthday and yet the mother can not feed the girl properly as she has on numerous occasions told us she has no money for food or petrol..
some people just do not have the correct priorities and buying drink before food and petrol seems to me that some people in our society have lost the plot..ps the kid has a blackberry..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
