My mum made these wonderful cutlery holders out of excess placemats - would make a great present for someone who loves to set a beautiful table at Christmas, and they were really simple even I could have made them. Might make some for some of my foodies friends for next Christmas - maybe do them a dinner party hamper with a really nice cookbook and napkins etc...0

Ok, I'm slightly annoyed at the moment, so please bear with me.
I was going to make some flavoured vodka for my BIL for next Christmas. However, when I was out trying to earn a bit of extra money on New Year's Eve, he helped himself to my entire bottle of blackberry vodka. I had only made a small amount in case it wasn't liked. He didn't check to see if I had any for myself and just drank the lot  Mum had bought whiskey special for him but he hasn't touched that. And him and sis are always so anti-homemade. I know I should be pleased it was liked, but when I'd spent all that time picking the fruit in my lunch break and spending out on the cheapo vodka as I can't afford anything better and making the stuff, I would like to get more than just a taste to make sure it's ready to bottle.
Next Christmas flavoured vodka will be my gift to me and some to Mum. Not to greedy people.

This is, I think, the recipe they used on Victorian farm for ginger beer which looked really simple and they certainly looked to be enjoying it. Not tried it yet but will be doing later in theyear when the bump has been born! Just scroll down to page 167 find it.

Scuzz, that is downright selfish of your BIL!! and he left you stinky whisky.I take it he liked it a LOT cause he drank the LOT of it. So I suppose that is a compliment for you :T

Hi all. Could I join too? I would love to borrow some of the Fab ideas i've read on here so far, and i'm sure there is going to be loads more to come too.
I have only started crafting really in the last 18 months or so. I started with making cards, and i sort of got addicted to all crafts lol. I bought a sewing machine and started doing some bits on there. I stared a bit late this christmas and didn't do too much.
I Made my friend and my mum an apron peg bag each because the both been trying to pinch mine (a bought one). I also made snowman soups for all the adults in the family as we only do children gifts but i like to give a bit of something still. Oh yeah and the cards.
So this year i would love to start early. I have plans to do my DS a denim patchwork quilt for his birthday. He'll be 18 and i think that would be something nice for him to keep but also to use. His Birthday is in December so plenty of time for that.
Would like some ideas of quick makes for an 18 yr old nephew who's birthday is end of January?Nothing to declare
