Thank you, I didn't get that the sweets would dissolve so sweetly and that the colour would be so strong! I understand now and can easily see how you could use different sweets. Thanks! :D

It is that simple. just put some sweets in with the vodka, i did about 30 skittles of each colour to about 60ml of vodka (as i needed two bottles of each and with drainage i wasn't sure how much i'd lose), about 4/5 jelly babies per 60ml (they have geletin in so it would be an idea not to use too many IYSWIM) and then i put about 3/4 fruit salads in 60ml vodka as they are more solid than the others.

I put these into plastic bottles (washed) and shook them until i couldn't feel my arms lol, then put the bottles in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water and left them until the water had cooled, then shook them again. Once the sweets had dissolved i strained the vodka through kitchen towel and then once i had removed all the scum (i think it was only the orange one i needed to strain twice) i put them into my presentation bottles. You can then freeze them if you like, as some people do with a regular bottle of vodka.

    Sorry for the ramble! :D

Its my first homemade christmas this year...can you tell?! :o

I have a quick question for those who've made skittles vodka.. have all your colours stayed really vibrant? my orange one is very pale unless i shake it up (i've not strained it yet) also my purple one just looks like red. I used 60(ish) skittles per 250ml vodka. Do you think i need to add more skittles?

She wrote in a post just above the number of sweets per bottle...

"30 skittles of each colour to about 60ml of vodka (as i needed two bottles of each and with drainage i wasn't sure how much i'd lose),

about 4/5 jelly babies per 60ml (they have geletin in so it would be an idea not to use too many IYSWIM)

and then i put about 3/4 fruit salads in 60ml vodka as they are more solid than the others. "

I must have missed that one.

I had followed this way to make the flavoured vodka - http://mixthatdrink.com/skittles-vodka-tutorial/

I'll add some more skittles today :)
