I have started on a patchwork quilt for my DD's birthday (it's my first, so its a big deal, but I have four months!), and am contemplating patchwork cushions or knitting a lace scarf for my mums birthday - which is in two months.

If the patchwork goes well, I am planning patchwork cushions for a friend's birthday to match her decor, but thats not till nearer the end of the year. I haven't started thinking about Christmas 2011 yet!
  • i always have a patchwork "something" on the go!
just now its an american patriotic one

we have just had a 50s american diner themed extension to our kitchen, so its for the hoooge lazy boy thats in there

i am also mid making one for my daughters bed
she is 17, her bedroom is red, black & white so its to match that, and i am thinking of backing it with a black hello kitty fleece

Ooh thanks for this - I've been posting all over the place - was all confuzzled. Am securing a comfy chair here now ;)

Will paste this next bit over as have typed it out about 3 times today :o

The tablet I made my OH this year was using this recipe and it did turn out looking almost exactly like that too :P

I didn't taste it as way way WAY to sweet for me but OH said it was delicious and the kids said it was out of this world. I layered it up in an air tight container with paper towel between each layer and just wrapped it up like that. It's still fresh now and I made it about 4 days before Christmas. I know what I'll be making again this year.

Just be careful if you make it when stirring - it's almost pure sugar and so like molten lava when it's bubbling away. I now have a new burn scar to add to my crafting injuries ;)

    Hiiiii K! *waves*

  • Hi Gals, can I get comfy & hopefully [STRIKE]nick[/STRIKE] get some ideas off you all for next year, my confidence has taken a bit of a beating this year.

I'm not sure I'll be making handmade gifts for family again except my Mom, & possibly my MIL as they are both crafters & appreciate the work put behind my makes..... crafty friends appreciated my makes as well, it was just the non crafters that I'm not sure about.

I made 3 hampers, each containing raspberry vinegar, elderflower champagne, blackberry jam, chutney, shortbread, mincepies and gingerbread men. Not 1 of the recipients has commented on them, a thankyou when taking them away to unwrap at home on xmas day was all I got so I'm not sure if they were just not liked or my family being rude :( Needless to say I wont be baking for them again.

On the plus side the Jewellery and hair clips I made went down well with friends, perhaps I should concentrate on these more next year. I shall be making mental notes of the style & colours family & friends wear as this year I had problems with remembering things like who has their ears pierced.
