The same thing happened to my dad. Just helped him to sort it out. He made sure the auto-renewal option was turned off last year when he renewed manually, but just discovered Norton took £64.99 from his account without his permission to renew his subscription.
They claim to have sent an email warning of the impending renewal but none was received. Even so, I cannot see that it can be legal to make this kind of transaction without the user's express permission.
To be fair to Norton. They eventually agreed to refund 50% of the subscription, but it is a stark warning for anyone using products from companies that hold your credit card details. Beware!0 -
