What are the chances of getting my money back from the AA?

We use local agents, so yes, it very much would have been passed on
like I said, speaking from experience I have never heard of anyone waiting so long.
Speaking from your experience, have you ever seen weather circumstances as bad and as sustained as what we have had this month? Also, speaking from your experience, would you not agree that even a simple queue of two or three incidents for that local agent could explain the O/Ps delay in getting assistance?0 -

Can I ask why I am being jumped on for having the opinion that the OP is right to complain?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

People in this forum like to jump on others all the time! Some are making out the op only got themselves to blame and are playing the alone female card. She wasn't playing that card, that's the situation, the OP has a right to complain.0 -
My opinion,
Some of the responses to the OP on this thread have amazed me.
She called the AA at 4.50pm and was told someone would be there at 6.10pm, so why did they not tell her it could be longer instead?
Also is it only me that thinks a lady on their own should be a priority? If I was broken down, I would understand that any lady on their own, or elderly person on their own, would be placed in front of me. I would also hope that if my girlfriend or mother was stranded then others would not mind them being rescued first.
OP I do think you have a valid complaint here because of what they told you when you first rang them.
And some on this board who think its ok for women to be stranded should be ashamed.0 -
i beleive OP has a valid complaint, she should of been told that due to the conditions they are stetched and may take more than x amount of time, and to get to somewhere that is safe and warm, and that they will contact her when the recovery is near for her to return to her vehicle.
i'm too shocked people think women shouldnt be prioritised, how would you feel if they werent and your partner broke down and was then attacked you soon be shouting women should be prioritsed with regards to recovery my partner got attacked becaused they left her 2-4 hours on her own stranded in a part of town nutorious for things like this!!0 -

Because you made a broad brush statement about how the company your insurance company uses wouldnt do this, however what i am saying is that in these adverse weather conditions we have been facing i would say all the recovery services would have been swamped.
Yes, the O/P should complain - i dont think it will do any good though - and i dont think she would get any better treatment from any other recovery service under the same conditions.
She needs to simply vote with her feet next time around and go elsewhere - like by using one of the cheaper options recommended by Martin - mine now costs less than half what the AA were looking and have provided just as good a service.0 -

One person did. Other comments were around 'if personal safety was an issue, then why not take evasive action and get picked up by a taxi / friend / BIL'0 -

Yes she was. She repeatedly said so.
This was after I told them I was a female on my own in a deserted industrial area of Birmingham in snow.
As a young, lone female in an industrial area surely I can't be the only person who considers this to be unacceptable?
My point is, if self safety was such a big issue, why not arrange another way home, given it was just 15 mins away.
No way i would let my wife or a family member sit stranded 15 minutes away without intervening very very quickly.0 -

Why should the risk be any different to a bloke being stranded? In this country the risk of something bad actually happening solely because you are female is next to nil. There is however plenty of media fuelled hysteria. She obviously felt in such grave concern for her own safety that she stayed there 6hrs instead of getting a lift to her home, 15 minutes away.
Stuff em playing the "little weak defenseless woman" card when it suits them. They wanted equality, well you get the good and the bad.0 -

Very wrong to think and say this. Should be 'the chance of a guy getting raped is next to nil' (even this would be wrong) . Prioritising female is a must.0
