EDF switch - heard nothing. Stressed

I applied to switch on the 6th December and got the email from EDF to confirm my application and also received an email later which I had to confirm my email address ! I phoned EDF for a reference number which is now my account number and I signed up on-line and logged into my EDF account .
Looking at my account on-line it says the Electricity will switch on the 2nd January 2011 and gas a week later .
So far I have received no contract from EDF to sign but it has tracked okay with Quidco.
I think the key is to get a reference number from EDF and then you can register on-line and follow your change over through your on-line account0 -
Thanks for all your replies. Will keep you posted - no pun intended (ahem).
Just hope I haven't suffered the same fate as this poor poster:I applied online just under 3 weeks ago ,got the E-mail straight away also tracked on quidco the next day.
Still no welcome pack ,so i called today and they've got no record on the system
She said just re-apply as you still get the £100 but i cant find the £100 bonus and they arn't listed on Quidco anymore so no cash back there either:mad::mad::mad:
nyck
I'm sure there are others. This is why I'm so worried.;)"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
By the time you get switched, EDF will be putting up their prices ( they have delayed till March 2011.
.........and so the dance continues......................That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Finally got through today. The rep said the switch takes 4-8 weeks and he can find no record, but if I got email confirmation it should have gone through.
Why am I not convinced?
Still no reply to the email I sent though."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -

This is why I'm stressing. I don't think it's gone through either! Have sent another email. I am regretting this now! Looks like higher bills for me this winter"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
I switched for my Mum on 20/11, got an immediate email confirmation, and it tracked in Quidco. About a week later she received a welcome letter with a 'contract number' (but no acount number, whch is what is needed to open the online account). Since then all I've had is an email link to click on to validate the email address, which, once done, encouraged me to go to the site and register for the online account-which I can't do as there is no account number yet!
As it's now been 6 weeks, I'm going to give them a ring after New Year to see what is going on-I can only imagine that the switch time is becoming extended due to the very high level of take up in December. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I was slightly concerned as I switched to EDF at the beginning of December but apart from an email asking me to confirm my email address I'd heard nothing.
Anyway I've since received a letter saying I will be swiching on 12/01/11 so I'm alot happier.2014 Target;

Just to update. Finally got through. Still no reply to two emails.
The rep said the server has 'no record' of the switch but offered no ideas on how to rectify this.
I've sent another email. I'm not taking this rubbish."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
I phoned EDF yesterday-the dept I got (after a lengthy wait) said that because the supply at that address was not yet 'live' with them, then she had no record of the application and I would have to call another number (she wouldn't transfer me). Dialling that number took me back to exactly the same automated system-after 15 mins more I gave up.
I can understand that the physical switch can be delayed due to the volume of new customers, but surely issuing the account numbers in order to enable people to register for the online account should be a largely automatic process? After 6 weeks I'm still waiting for this.
If people could access their online account, they could get the required info info from there and that would greatly reduce the volume of call centre enquiries.
My current supplier (SP) ws by no means perfect, but compared to EDF it was a dream.
Interesting that in all this chaos, EDF have stil managed to set up the DD's on the account-even though no switch date is yet forthcoming. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
