lorries and buses [which..incidentally, do..or should have, interior mirrors ...and a periscope for upstairs......]..have a distinct advantage over cars when it comes to mirrors.
The driver can actually see down each side of their vehicle.
This means, the driver not only can use the mirror to check for other road users...but also use it for road position.
This cannot be done in a car...at least, not without having the most huge of hugest mirrors stuck to one's doors.
How many on here have pulled away from the side of the road, indicating left [still]?
Simply because, the indicator has remained where it was when you stopped?
But..after a while, you notice it, or steer a bit to the right and it cancels itself?
OK....so it may have caused a moment's confusion for another driver, but in the end, it is a simple mistake we all can make....and should be treated as such...
Or..forgetting one's mirror are pulled in when one drives off in a hurry..things on mind, etc........perhaps too much traffic to stop and push it out again??
well, if you see that happening, you'll all be aware that the driver concerned may not be able to see quite as much as you would hope, so you drive accordingly?
Little point in getting upset...we all do it..a t some time or other?
[well, maybe quite a lot of you haven't been driving long enough to have reached that point yet?]
Bosnian motorcycle?
[40 tonne artic on one headlight?]No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

What a dork, I thought he'd gone, well it was on my new years list.
Genie, have you tried AA, and I don't mean the recovery people.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
The majority of car drivers who either have:-
A) No mirrors attached at all
folded in because of parking etc
C) facing the wrong way and too lazy to adjust
I actually think you have the totally wrong perspective on this, and this is not a dig at you.
A, never seen that in all my life, apart from it being illegal
B, when you've had the mirror hacked off for a tenth time and the driver hasn't stopped I guess you would join the club?, and mirrors not needed when parked
C, How the heck would you know?
All that crap doesn't matter, if you do take the trouble to look in the mirrors you will have them correctly adjusted, as the vast majority do.
:T
However if you don't????????, doesn't matter where they are pointed:(

Im sorry, but when you can look over at the driver of the car next to you and actually predict that they'll ignore the road signs/markings, go straight on or right from a left hand turn lane on a major traffic island (when your middle lane is also marked to go left), or see them weaving in/out of traffic with no regard for others, it does make for extremely stressful driving.
The recent Top Gear special said it all really, drivers using both sides of a dual carriageway to travel in BOTH directions.
What makes them miraculously become better drivers when they cross UK borders?
It's not their fault as such that we allow them on our roads.
Having had a lift from a Cypriot driver in the UK I have to reluctantly agree that it should be harder to drive in this country if you don't have a UK licence.
Of course, he was driving a UK registered brand new hire car so you probably wouldn't have much advance warning :rotfl:0 -
Also worth noting the new Ice Road Truckers special, where they've gone to India for the summer.
The driving standards in Delhi....0 -
In Malta all the hire cars have a 'k' in the middle of the reg so you can spot them!Having had a lift from a Cypriot driver in the UK I have to reluctantly agree that it should be harder to drive in this country if you don't have a UK licence.

Add Manchester to that list. Although its more minicab drivers than proper taxi drivers who can't drive round here. And add buses to that list. Quite often bus drivers will pull away from the stop with their LEFT indicator still on! Although I get more irate with bus drivers when cycling, as I have to share a bus lane with them, or a cycle lane when they're being idiots, when in my car I don't have to much.Strider590 wrote: »I think Rossy has been driving around Birmingham :rotfl:
