If you give money to someone, they can just waste it and buy crap. If they are given a gift voucher, you'll know that it'll be put to good use and won't be used to fund a secret drug habbit or a sleazy hooker.
I'd much prefer to give gift vouchers rather than hand someone my hard earned cash. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

But those are the best things to spend it on!
So, what you're really saying is that you like to enforce a moral code on people with your gift-giving.0 -

For oneself perhaps, but who wants to pay for someone elses "happy dust". :rotfl:
Yeah, I guess you can put it like that. I'd much rather see my money being spent on something I'd approve of rather than what I'd class as useless crap.

As others have said i would write to someone high up in the company-they may well replace in whole or in part as a good will gesture-fingers crossed.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

We are talking about why people like to give vouchers and it's because they do want some control over the gift.0 -

A sleazy hooker isn't useless crap, it's an orgasmic experience ;-)If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0 -
It's not what everyone wants to buy.
It's the buyer here that gets the choice about what they want to give.0 -
some companies convert them to their new system if they are the old style ones, regardless of when it expired.
however HoF ones r recent so i doubt you'll get new ones.0
