Hi guys,
My sister just found gift vouchers for House of Fraser that I gave her for Xmas 2 yrs ago. She went to shop in sale online today and apparently they expired?? It is month short of 2 years since I bought them.. House of Fraser doesn't want to know.
I bought them on a credit card. Can we claim the money back or something?
Probably not, but I thought we might ask..

I wouldnt imagine after 2 years the card would help, write to house of fraiser but if the vouchers have expiry on them actually printed nothing you can do0

How are you a month short of the 2 years from buying them if you bought them her for xmas 2 years ago? Surely you'd be around a month over if anything?Hi guys,

I would resort to a nice begging letter to somebody important at House of Fraser.Hi guys,

It's comon for vouchers to be dated from when you purchase not from when you gave them.
I expect they have expired.
The card company will not be liable just because your sister misplaced them.
There's a chance they might replace them so it's probably worth the cost of a stamp.0 -

Oh, I didn't explain it properly. I bought them on 10th December 2008 and they expired on 1st November 2010.. So they didn't even have 2 yrs on them. They are just paper ones, so I think they just print them in batches.
I didn't think there is anything we can do, but I just thought I will ask. I can't believe that she just "misplaces" £50 for 2 years... that is just not normal!! Waste of money getting her anything.. really.0 -

Well, yeah, I wouldn't think anything else. The card company will not be liable just because your sister misplaced them.

That is what I was hoping House of Fraser would do, but their policy is not to and that is that - their words.
Quite dissapointed as obviously they did get the money for them and they can verify that they haven't been used... But it's 2 yrs so I realise we haven't got any comeback.0 -
Thanks guys anyways.0

I've never understood the rationale for exchanging money that you can spend anywhere for a piece of paper that expires and can only be spent at a particular retailer.0
-
The rationale for many people is that they would prefer to buy someone "something for the house" or "something for the garden" as a gift rather than simply giving cash.
There are various vouchers you can buy that can be used at multiple retailers for example book tokens or garden vouchers.0 -
I bet writing to them will produce a different response than what you got from the shop as people in call centres/higher up have more leaveway than customer services people on the front line so to speak:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one
:beer::beer::beer:0
