I have decided to put two 'no sew blankets' onto my gift list for the kids.
My little boy is WWE mad though but his bedroom will be red/blue so I think those will be his colors unless I can find some WWE fleece or material.
My little girl will hopefully be having a pale yellow Winnie The Pooh fleece and pale pink one if I can match the colours properly.
Also thinking I might make stockings this year too for the kids.
Also some christmas festive bunting in traditional colours and maybe a tablecloth/table runner too
Time to find me again0 -
festive trace - I love your enthusiasm for christmas! I can almost taste that turkey dinner!
My favourite part of the dinner is the bread sauce, what's yours?0 -

not sure how 'little' you want them, but wilkinsons do some about 3/4 of an inch big. from memerory theres about 50 in a pack for about £1.50. they are in the kids crafts aisle alongside the sequins, pom poms etc.
the only thing is that they are all differnt brightly coloured, which is fine if thats what youre after but i painted ours all red.
for everyone after the little stockings to hang, last year home bargains were selling 'mini stocking sets' for 89p.
each box included enough felt to make 4 stockings (ready cut, with holes for sewing) plastic needle with thread and embellishments to decorate the fronts with xmassy pictures.
i got 6 boxes last year and me and the kids sewed, and decorated them. i then used the pegs ive mentioned above to attch them to a length of string it looked really good.
unfortunatley we didnt used them as an actual calendar as we finished making them in the second week of december :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: so they were a decoration for us, but this year they will be filled with little sweets or possibly a hot wheels car and little ring or braclet (budget depending)Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -

When could we start to see the early bird Christmas items in the shops?
No doubt many of them will be getting ready soon with ordering all there stock.0 -
Hi
Thanks for your replies. I managed to find the 1p beads on eBay, so now the task is to actually snap some of those up!
I have also found some mixed buttons and coloured cottons in a charity shop so they are in the box ready for nearer the time. I am driving my OH insane with the Xmas talk!

Oh, I would like to join this thread! I really need to start getting organised for Christmas now. July is a massive birthday month, so starting the prep work now, and will really push myself harder starting in August.
We were going to save/sell on ebay to get money together to buy a Wii for Christmas, but I found out the other day that I'm getting a FREE Wii console, including some accessories and games!! :j This is in exchange for testing some of the games and providing feedback on them. We were asked to volunteer awhile ago, but I'd forgotten about it until I got the email that we were chosen to get it! Very very pleased! Although now means (since we need to use it to test it) that it won't be a Christmas present. sigh... back to the drawing board.
I'm browsing the craft threads, as I have spotted a few things I might try to make and then give as gifts. :cool:MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Hi all,
Only 176 days to go!
My gift buying isn't going too badly - currently have saved around 70% on everything I have bought thanks to the Boots Jan sale and the Body Shop savings! So doing well I think.
But I'm looking for some help! The last few years I have given gifts to family that my OH's son has made. So last year we decorated wine glasses for adults so that on Xmas day people knew who's glass was who's, and decorated trinket boxes for his female cousins. We have made xmas cakes the past few years and pots of gold with decorated jars. We have even made Skittles vodka for his mum with handmade labels.
Anyway, this year I have had the bright idea of making personalised canvas totes for all the females. I thought I could also deliver the presents in the bags too, therefore no need for gift bags! The bags themselves have worked out at £1 each from ebay. My problem is that all the crafty bits soon add up and what I thought would be a cheap homemade gift looks like it could end up being quite expensive. Do any of you know where I can get cheap, cheap beads, buttons, ribbon, etc?
Thanks in advance,
Bec

We can tell we're into the second half of the year - everyone's starting to get christmas minded :rotfl:karen_is_trying wrote: »does anyone know where i can get5 the little crafty coloured pegs from please? x
Poundland sell packs of 40 at xmas time - usually red. gold or silver - they are supposed to be card hangers but they aren't attached to string so should work
JULY UPDATE:
So far I have bought
:all wrap, tags and cards for next year
:most decs - still need red/green tinsel and a red or green tree topper
:18 1/2 out of 20 family xmas gifts - I know what the missing 1/2 is but won't buy that until November - I still have no clue what to get my Dad
: DD - Finished
:OH - Finished - but will probably still pick up the odd book I see in charity shops
plus ALL family birthday gifts and new baby bits
updated bits in bold
Counting down until the first christmas stuff appears in the shops - can't be long now :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

i think you win the prize for the most organised :T:T:T
was your dad ever sporty? and does he have evidence?
my dad used to be a professional boxer back in the day and the year before last i made him a photobook by scanning all his newspaper clippings, old training and ring pics, certificates/awards, programmes and posters etc
it looked really good espescially as a lot of the clippings hes got have become dogeared from people leafing through them. now he can put the originals away and people can look through the book instead.
he said it was the best present he had ever recieved and as hes quite a sentimental man i believe him.
maybe you could do something similar if your dad is anything like mine?Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0
