EBAY P&P arguement....

i think the ebay rules are, that if P&P hasnt been mentioned in the details, then they can only charge at cost, and not add on the usual shoe leather profit margin0

"hmmm i somewhat question your approach to postage and packaging charges."
You questioned his selling methods. You offended him.
If he doesn't want to state P+P then thats up to him. Yeah ok he might be losing out on sales, but thats his problem.
"in all honesty i should be paying the price i won on as no price was mentioned!?"
No you shouldn't be paying the price you won as no price is mentioned. A seller can add his Postage charge after auction. As someone rightly said, they can only charge you actual postage costs not any handling costs. The latter should be stated upfront in the listings.
Oh, and for your future reference, i have the answer to allllll your queries here:

This is an Ebay P+P workshop. Here's just a snippet from that link:
"WHY DOESN’T EBAY MAKE IT COMPULSORY FOR SELLERS TO LIST POSTAGE IN ALL LISTINGS?!"
"This could cause a lot of trouble for some sellers who sell lots of varied items, as some may have to package up the items first, in order to get a postage cost, and the item may not sell. Also if postage is not mentioned, bidders can ask the seller a question about this before bidding. If after bidding this charge increased, bidders should question the seller, and then report the matter to us if the extra charges are for handling. "
I trust this will clear up any further confusion.

Hi
I agree if he feels that he does not want to sell to you just leave it.You know now not to bid on items that have no postage price. There is probably no point trying to report him and making the situation worse. He has not done anything wrong and maybe does feel that if he sold to you problems might arise from it.I dont particularily approve of items with no postage on them , but you cant automatically tarnish people as " crooks " because of this.I would just forget it and see if anything happens from it.However I very much doubt it would as he will not want to risk getting a neg either - maybe why he refused to sell.0 -

It would be nice if there was such a rule but unfortunately there isn't. A seller can either show post and packing in the auction or add it afterwards. Sellers are not limited to charging just actual postage.

As a seller I too would have been offended by your email, the tone belies what you write. I suggest you apologize for "inadvertently" offending him, if he won't accept your email, you could apologize in your feedback. Alternatively, leave well alone, and just check to see if any neg feedback has been left by him, don't leave feedback first. He is possibly waiting to see what kind of feedback you leave first. The last thing you want is for him to flag you up as a "best avoided" buyer to other sellers, and vice versa. Put it down to experience, you lost yourself a bargain by your own actions.
Are those shopping bags you're carrying really bags of debt???0 -
Heed all of the advice above.
Breath deeply and learn from the experience (even if you ain't an Ebay newbie!).

if you liked the item, were happy with the P&P costs i dont know why you bothered to rock the boat and have a small chib at him about not specifying a P&P cost. fair enough he should but in this case everything was working out fine until you made your comments, in future you should maybe just concentrate on your own deal and if your happy in general just bite your tongue.
either way though i think something needs to be done as ive had 2 strikes before for not paying, even though i didi! i won two seperate items from two seperate auctions but same user, i paid straight away and he left me good feedback.......... but then never sent the items to me! after a month waiting i threatened him with complaining and he refunded my money but a few months later i still ended up with 2 strikes as he said i never paid. luckily i managed to sort it out with ebay as i had the feedback from him saying i paid quickly0 -
I agree with some of the other posts, the P&P should be stated within the auction. If its not I always think something is a bit iffy.0
-
i always state my postage costs in auctions and like otehrs if i am buying and there is no p&p stated then i e-mail the seller, if no answer from them then i wont bid.
On the same sort of subject mr divadee is selling some books at the moment, and has just had a mail asking if his postage cost is serious, as the person claims a paperback book should only cost £1.20 recorded to post. That as maybe for a small one. but the book in question is over 1kg unpackaged and 7cms think  so the £5 charge he is asking is just cost only.0 -
NellyLock, have u sent another email yet?
I would be inclinded to email and apologise if offense was taken re the original email and say whilst you appreciate his request to not contact him ask him would it be possible for him to suggest amicable outcome regarding settlement of this auction... express your concerns re being labelled as a non-payer and re-assure him you are still willing to pay and also express your concerns re neg feedback etc... i would just tell him that wires have been crossed and if he really wants to leave it and wont pursue it further then that may be the only course of action...
sounds annoying 4 u tho if you thought you'd got a bargain! could be like you say that he didnt want to sell it at the price you won it 4! I'd be tempted to pursue it further but guess it depends what the item was and how badly you wanted it...
good luck
