I do not drink, so I find it shocking at some of the figures, I almost see drink as a waste. However, I am laughing at myself as of course I smoke, which is just as bad! The bigger drinkers should post though, I am sure some people spend more on shoes or something as equally as daft eh!0

I think all the big drinkers are avoiding posting here, as I think I seem to be rather more than average drinker from the posts.
I have 3-4 bottles of wine,2 crabbies,1/4 bottle of vodka a week, other half about 14 cans of lager,if we have visitors then alot more. pmsl
Probably equates to £50 a week as the wine I drink is £8 a bottle.
Yep, possibly.
I'm around £50 a week which equates to 5 bottles of wine and 10 cans of beer.
Thats if i'm not socialising.
Add another 2 bottles of wine and 4 cans if i'm on holiday all week.
Was a 40 a day smoker up until 4 years ago too.
And i'm overweight.
There, got that off my chest lol.
That aside, I know A LOT of people these days who see nothing wrong with a bottle of wine and a couple of beers a night.0 -
I dont drink now unless I its birthday or xmas etc
So basically I drink 3-4 times a year ...dosent cost me anything
Sure I would love to have a bottle of wine a week but its just not feasible for me anymore, prefer to spend £5 elsewhere! Plus with medication it dosent leave me feeling great.. easier and cheaper in the long run for me!
so 0 ... but ..if I could ..would happily buy a bottle or two a week!OU Law studentMay Grocery challenge£30/ £110 -
ive just turned 19 and dont drink, but the members of my household dont really drink alcohol either so apart from alcoholic gifts id say less than £20 a year !!
19 years old and from the drinking capital of the UK? I thought that'd be a recipe for disaster et al.i think the 'real' drinkers are all avoiding this thread also....!!!!
I think everyone is...but I do like Angela's post
At home, I could probably say £9 for this missus (on 2 bottles of wine minus 2 small glasses for me) and for me £7.50 (which would be 6 ciders (4 good, 2 cheap) for me. £16.50 a week ish?
Spirits...a bottle of vodka and a bottle of gin will last me a year!0 -

On a good week it will be 2 bottles of wine, on a stressful week (!) it could be 5 bottles, and this week since we've been off work it's been 7 bottles!!! So anything from £7 up to a very unusual maximum of about £35 a week, presuming that I spend between £3.50 and £5 on a bottle.0

Around a bottle wine a night for me and the same for the missus. We arn't steaming drunk or anything as we drink homebrew. A common myth is that homebrew wines\beers etc are like rocket fuel. You do start out making rocket fuel but like any hobby you learn to master it. I now make wine for around 30p a bottle and its superior to most £4 a bottle commercials.
I also make high end wine which costs me around £2.50-£3.50 a bottle to make. I intend on ageing them for a year + which will then see them comparable to a £15-£25 bottle of wine which I keep for special occasions.
Occasionally I'll make a batch and give it away to friends who don't have much money to spend on wine. I also give the FIL a couple of bottles a month to save him from having to pay out.
I currently have around 50 gallons of wine.....ageing
Admittedly I should cut down but I'm happy at the moment and always have a drink with my tea (8pm ish)
My homebrew costs significantly less than a few pints in the local per week (which I don't do) and I'm also now well skilled (although not yet mastered) in making wine.
I don't consider myself to be a heavey drinker (I certainly wouldn't dream of drinking 10 pints in a night) and I always stop drinking when I feel close to drunk.
