I think hobbycraft is expensive. We used to have one of their shops but it closed because it was in with a woolworths. I'm drinking red wine, stitching my Xmas snoopy and watching usual subjects. Perfect Friday eve!

Ps London bus cross stitch (new bothy threads mr men kit) on sew n so looks amazing!

I never set foot in HC, methinks their prices are extortionate. Am I being too harsh ? Am I missing any bargains ?

i like them for kids stuff
    - got a marbelling kit same as the one I bought DS for my neice reduced to £4.99 ATM (almost £6 + P&P everywhere i found online last time i looked).
    - got a paint your own train money box reduced to (i think) around £3 last time i went in.

I always get my aida from them - usually this one in either white or ivory. Unless anyone can find me the same cheaper (with postage less then £3.70). VERY occasionally they reduce it to £7.99 a roll which i think is a proper bargain but haven't seen them do it for a while.

They always have EVERY cross stitch mag in stock (and occasionally back issues) which can be handy if you can't get one elsewhere.

It's the only place I know of near me that sell the 'really useful boxes' other then Argos.

Saying that their cross stitch kits are a MEGA stupid price and I would never (she says) buy one from there unless it was hugely reduced or i couldn't find it elsewhere.

ohhhh FE I LOVEEE that MR Men one (linky for anyone who wants a look) - Bothy have released some FAB new stuff this last week.

Decopage girlies - did you know you can buy the Gorgeus (little goth girl) ones??

I've just discovered how good those boxes are. I've seen them WH Smiths, but only smaller sizes (max 3L, I think) & they were more expensive than Hobbycraft-which suprised me.

Never thought to look at the aida there, as I know kits & threads are silly money. Do they advertise it when it's reduced? Like, mark it up clearly on the shelf edge? Realised when starting this Lace Up chart that I don't have much white/off white 14 ct. Not large pieces anyway. I have tons of coloured, sparkly, or 16/18ct but very limited 14ct.

can you help out a cafe member over on Facebook.........
Hi, wondering if anybody can help. I am looking for a cross-stitch kit of chickens to stitch for a friend at work's retirement. I vaguely remember seeing one I liked which was a row of chickens sitting drinking tea and knitting etc. Is this a real kit or have I imagined it?! If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I am convinced someone has stitched one like this recently........

    eta: FOUND IT.... I think.

I LOVEE them. Fab for lego, paperwork etc and i like the tiny tiny ones for threads etc for tiny projects (cards etc)

Also just found how great the tiny tiny ones are for putting PVA glue in during kiddie sticking sessions.

yup it has a yellow label on with the new price. Must admit I haven't seen it reduced sincce last christmas (but i have only been in about 3 times since then). I would assume the online shop will reduce it at same time tho.

I hardly ever use Hobbycraft unless I am really stuck. I only have two crafts now and the other is much cheaper from across the pond, even with postage. Last time I went into HC for an emergency dash for skein I think, they had a sale on all cross stitch kits. In the sale they wanted £7.99 for one woodland folk, needless to say I didn't buy it :rotfl:

Soulie - thanks for the link to imag-e-nation, stumbled across the site before but forgot to bookmark. Have jsut spent £10, so much for my promise to hubby not to but any more!!! How do the Flippin cards go together do I need special card blanks?

Here we go, found a pic of a flippin' card using the flippin' blank cards, that I made for my Step-Dad.
The flippin' blanks are tri-folds, but a normal card with an aperture would work just as well. I also put a sheet of acetate in between the 'front' and 'back' so it wouldn't be so flimsy. I also stuck these two sides together, to make it in to a 'normal' shaped/sized card.

Hope all this makes sense LOL

Not going to post pics here cause this is the cross stitch thread and not the card making thread lol So here you go.

Nearest Hobby Craft is in another town which is good long (and fairly pricy) bus ride away..... my CC is safe from its stores.

just a quick question, whats the adverage price people have found for skeins. I generally pop along to the small shop in town (that does anchor) and pay in cash. just wondering what the adverage for people was
