Now to the main question - I've finished the outlining on my MP Wedding Sampler and only have to put the names an ddate on it. It's for my nephew and his wife (to be), should I put John and Jane or Jane and John? I assume etiquette says I should do the female name first but what do you think seeing as it's my nephew?
Any thoughts gratefully received.
I go for whatever reads best (lol i think i must be strange).... so mine said "laura and graham" as i think it reads better then the other way. persnally i like "jane and john" better then "john and jane"
i blame ladybird books.... "peter and jane" reads better then "jane and peter", "janet and john" better then "john n janet".Thanks chicky...hope that wee one of your settles down to a sensible sleepoing pattern soon!
he's not toooo bad now thanks. tends to go to bed with his brother (around 7pm) - and kicking off less and less as time goes on..... occasionally up at 10 or 12 for milk.... up at 3/4 am for milk..... sleep till 6/7am.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
My first issue (I did the 5 for £5 subscription) of WOCS arrived today. Some nice designs in it but not sure if there are any that I will actually stitch, but for £1 I'm very happy. Should I cancel my subscription now???.
Nooo - that's the best mag, honstly!!Now to the main question - I've finished the outlining on my MP Wedding Sampler and only have to put the names an ddate on it. I did a bit of googling and found this:
According to etiquette, the woman's name comes first when addressing a married couple on stationery. This is because a man was never to be separated from his name.
In cases where only first names are used, the woman's name is still first because the man's surname is always implied, even if not written out
So there we go, I had always wondered the traditional reasoning behind it
But at the end of the day...it's your stitching and your choiceOff on hols tomorrow, not back for nearly three weeks. Won't have internet access, so I'll see you in August!!
I may take Elegant Lady with me...surely I can get her finished this month!!!
Yes, do take her with you and get the poor wummin finished at last..then you can get back to your Astronomer, hehe:T

Hi Everyone
I hope you are all well.
It's been ages since I've been on here. Back in May I had no internet for over a month :eek:and I never seem to be able to get back into the swing of things internet wise.
However I've just completed the fourth page of Forest Walk so I thought I would post the picture on here and then catch up on all the news.
Fourth page completed by wildcat_ln, on Flickr
I think I've got about sixty pages to read. That'll keep me busy for a while

hi everyone, i've had a catchup and had so much to say but cant remember it all! everyone's updates and photos are looking fantastic! i've totally lost my stitching mojo. i've been doing so much house sorting and feeling so tired in between that i've just not been able to concentrate on it. sweetcarer.. erm... sorry i cant remember! biker chick, i'm glad the news is encouraging. dont let work stress you, of all things that's not worth it (ha! i should take my own advice there really!)
crafty granny - thank you so much! the package arrived on my OHs birthday... they are awesome CDs, though he was a little disapointed it wasnt for him! though the beautfiul card went on the mantle piece with his cards and is co-incidentially very much his style so he sort of claimed it! i think i'll frame it and hang it by the bathroom as it matches a lighthouse ornament we have. oh, i nearly forgot to say, but in the current CrossStitcher i'm quoted on the letters page! a facebook quote about the Glamping Girls chart from the previous month, top right.:j
I was so shocked! i was reading it in bed, and had to actually wake my OH up in order to tell him!
(they're really sneeky... i was about to cancel my sub as that was my last 3 for 3, but i feel happy towards the mag now and there's at least 2 charts to add to my must stitch list in next months mag. but then again 44 a year is a LOT of money that i cant really justify. if i just bought it when i wanted to stitch something, as per the last year then i'd definately spend less. argh! decisions decisions!)Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23.
