Help please with Humax 9300T

I have the 9200T so not the same machine but you should be able to just delete unwanted channels from the channel listing in the setup menu and you can re-order them on your favourites. It won't make BBC1 channel one though but you might be able to delete the problem BBC one channels, both of them channel one and channel 80x and then re-tune that channel manually to save you having to do it for all of them.
I don't know whether that will make BBC one channel one but worth a try, channel one might be free to be assigned. 0 -
Oh dear. I feel like I need a degree in digital technology here. I'm totally ham fisted when it comes to anything like this and it's usually my grandsons who tune in and set up these things for me. Surely I shouldn't have to do all this just to use the thing?
I'll give it a go but more than likely I'll press the wrong button and the thing will never work again...and Currys won't change it because it's been tampered with...!0 -

Normally you wouldn't need to, it is simply because of your location that your Humax is receiving the " wrong " channels, just follow Chorlie's excellent advice, you cannot do any permanent harm to the Humax.0 -

It sound worse than it is, the first time is a little bit of a fiddle but fairly easy once done and only take a few mins.
As for just deleting the effect channels, this doesn't stop the missed recordings (if you also have this issue); its all to do with picking up signals for the same channel from different transmitters, so only deleting all the channels and forcing the box via a manual search to only look at one transmitter will solve the issue.
You only need to do this when a re-tune is needed, I've only had to do this once in the last 12 months because most updates are for channels I don't want, so I don't bother re-tuning.
If you don't have the missed recording issue and you can live with the channel numbers of 801, 802, 3, 4, 5....etc you can as A.Penny says, delete channel 1 & 2, setup favourites and sort the channels into an order that you like best, but if you can do this than the Manual Search is easier IMHO.
The box is the best PVR I've owned so I think its worth the effort.0 -
It sounds like the 9300T is the same as the 9200T for tuning. So it's very quick to do providing you select the correct channel numbers from that website. It's fairly automatic and should get around the extra but weak channels available in your area due to the other transmitter.
My previous advice about deleting just the two channels won't really speed it up significantly, I was just thinking in a geek way about some highly technical tuning screen like there is on a TV card tuning screens. It's far easier than that and is just a case of nudging the Hummy in the right direction......technology can be a bit stupid at times so needs a little help
The 9200T had some problems when too many channels were in the channel line up so deleting some helped it work better. You might not want all the girly half naked telephone channels that Freeview is now littered with so judicious use of the delete button will delete all the !!!!.0 -
Of course if the makers of PVR's included a " swap " channel facility, this would have been a doddle to sort.

The 9200T and 9300T have the same basic software, just a bigger HDD and HDMI upscaling etc; so they will have the same software issues.
I like the box far better than the Thompson Topup-TV box I had before, but there are a few little niggles like the slow EPG & the above issue, but I love being able to record 2 channels and still watch a third on the same MUX.
We have two 9300T boxes in my house and thinking about a third Humax box, but want a Freeview HD recorder. So I really rate Humax, it's worth the effect to set it up right.0 -
The slow EPG issue on mine (9300T) was largely resolved with the last major software upgrade (around last Easter I think). No free lunch, and no free laptop
