Retailers are expecting today to be the busiest day of the year.

I'm sure I heard on the radio that yesterday was supposed to be the busiest day.

No, hang on a second, wasn't last "Super Saturday" supposed see the most people shopping ?


I predict that on Boxing Day we'll hear "Retailers said that Christmas was disappointing, but expect record takings during the sales (buy now, or pay the massive rise in VAT folks !). Oh, and visit your loacal friendly estate agent, houses are going cheap at the moment. Don't miss out !".

    Yes, I find threads "strange", when people make comments that don't discuss the subject matter, or engage with other posters.

    I heard the word "frenzy" on Radio 5 yesterday, describing the Boxing Day sales (after a disasterous December). I'm sure I heard reports that in the last few days before Christmas, retailers had made up for the poor sales due to the bad weather, and that shoppers were making up, or even exceeding their lack of spending earlier in the month. There was no mention of "disaterous" in the lead up to Christmas.

    BBC text states that shopping centres describe Boxing day's sales as "phenominal". :rotfl:

    Seems like the people who make these quotes are related to the other species who like to use "flowery" language - Estate Agents.

    So what exactly is it that you object to?

    Do you not believe that retail activity has been high?

    Are the commentators discussing retail sales activity engaging in some form of retail ramping?

    Do you think an increase in retail sales, and the economic and employment gains that come with it, is somehow a bad thing?
