Chambta, I don't feel better, but I do now have a better relationship with my bank (RBS). It is only the same as telling a kid off, it was the only thing that was understood. If you feel better letting you bank walk all over you then that is good, if you bank doesn't walk all over you then be happy.

Opinions4U, StClair, DCFC79 By the sounds of it, your advice was already taken by the original poster, it certainly was by me, to no avail. Obviously, try that route first.

Walking all over you? Surely things aren't so black and white?

    Chambta,

I am not sure what to say to this. The first time my bank rang me up, it was obvious that was not going to work for me, so I asked them to stop. The last time it happened, I enquired as to why they were contacting me when I asked them not to and was told that I was marked as no marketing, but this was not a marketing call but a service call. To me, the 2 were indistinguishable, and I did feel that I was being mocked by my bank. I really do not know how to put it differently. As I said, I am sincerely happy that you are happy. At the moment, I am happy, judging by subsequent conversations with my bank, my bank is also happy. PLEASE can we all be happy? I would much rather spend the time discussing the fortunes (or lack of) of Hull City or the latest film or ... .

    Happy New Year anyway

If everyone was grossly offesive to staff when they call you on 'marketing issues' - I'll guarantee to you that the firm would rapidly stop.

What a purile suggestion to be grossly offensive. I find the comment grossly offensive. They are just people trying to do a job to earn money to pay their bills. They do what the Co tells them and there are many people that have benefitted as a result of the call. What job do you do? What if people disgareed with whatever you do and were "grossly offensive" to you. Also, tell me what part of your organisation does not involve sales of some sort? The whole commercial system relvolves around and relies on sales. Grow up.

What you can do is to elect not to receive marketing calls or material of any kind. You can also be a part of the telephone preference service. (TPS) Banks are especially wary of customers registered with the TPS. I hope this helps but it seems a much more civil and adult way as an alternative to being grossly offensive!

The point is that I HAVE registered with the TPS.
I HAVE told the companies that I want no more calls.
and STILL they fcking call.....What more do you want me to do: - perhaps you could suggest ideas - pay the CEO a visit with a baseball bat maybe?
how can I explain it to you..... I DO NOT WANT ANY MARKETING/SALES/SERVICE CALLS EVER AT ALL.
(the TPS ban only applies to true cold calls - if you are know to the company by previously having bought from them ie gas/electric etc then the TPS rules do not apply and the company can call you)

It is actually simply impossible to "sell" anything to me. I might buy something after due diligence and research but as soon as I spot the "sell" starting they have in effect lost any sale they might have had. That's the way I am.

What job do I do? I'm an engineer working in high value bespoke capital goods in a business to business environment: oil, gas and related sectors...... in my 50's. It's a different environment different from retail selling I appreciate, customers are very astute, sharp, tough, call it what you wish, and customers and suppliers all know each other.

Anyone who genuinely wants to sell something to me (product, service or development project) can put the proposal down on no more than a single sheet of A4. I'm equally interested in what the product can do AND what are the guarantees and exclusion clauses when it goes wrong: in short how much can we sue the supplier for, because you can bet that we as a main contractor will be sued. I'm not interested in seeing a salesman - i'm sick and tired of the bllcks they speak: anything promised to get a sale.....yeah yeah seen it endlessly.

I think if a group of people disagreed violently with what I did then I would be incentivised to stop doing it....Life has taught me that quietly asking someone to please desist has no effect - but telling them to fk off has a better chance of succeeding. Perhaps you could explain why this is - I'm not a psychologist.

The last lot to pester me was British Gas who wanted me to change to their supply cos they were cheaper: so I told them as usual where they could shove it. About a month or so afterwards they raised their prices. OK.. so their game was pretty clear - suck the punters in and then stuff em with a price rise once you have captured them: classic.

Then there was BT who wanted me to change my phone package along with various claims about how I could make various calls for free, but curiously omitting to state precisely how much I would save based on my current usage pattern - which of course they knew as an existing customer. Sitting down with a spreadsheet proved quite conclusively that no, actually it would be more expensive overall for me to change - well fancy that who'd have guessed it, BT on the make.

If you think I'm a bit extreme you should see some USA industrial companies. I've seen places where such is the level of hatred between management and shop floor workers that it is physically unsafe for management to go onto the shop floor to discuss/look at something when the shop floor workers are there...you know things might drop of cranes etc...try working in that environment.

Best wishes and I'm sorry you find my post purile and offensive
