iPhone 4 or HTC HD7...?
I had an iphone which got stolen and the insurance company aren't paying out, so I am going to buy one of these unlocked contract free - I have about £400-500 to spend, and would hope that it'd last me for at least 3 years...any opinions on either of these phones?
I LOVED my iphone, I love the apps etc. Can I get similar things on the HTC HD7?

Both are completely different to be honest. Have you had a feel of the HTC HD7 in a Vodafone shop? They always have one on. O2 shop sometimes have them too. As for iphone 4? The signal problem? You still need to buy one of the horrible elastic bands or cover to improve the signal.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

I've got an HTC Desire which does everything the iPhone does, and more. Not as many apps - but plenty for 'grown ups' - and slightly cumbersome uploading any music that's been tagged by iTunes. Other than that, it's a really good phone - gets lots of good reviews. You can pick them up on eBay for less than £200.0

It also depends what you are looking for in a phone. There is no question that HTC build some of the best handsets around i would say try the HTC Desire HD instead which runs Android.
Android has grown and grown over the past year or so and in some cases is better than the iPhone 4.
The Desire HD comes with a better screen size, perfect for videos and games, the browser is a shade better and of course the best thing about Android is it is an open source platform where you can make it yours as i am sure you are aware that if Steve Jobs doesn't like it you can't do / have it.
There are also no restrictions on moving files between other phones, i can transfer songs downloaded from Amazon MP3(works just as itunes) to my GF phone via bluetooth or via my laptop no problems. You can also sync itunes with a number of software such as doubletwist.
App wise, Android has the same apps as the iOS, give or take a few fart apps. Things such as Skype, Facebook (with facebook chat) travel apps etc etc are all there. You can also save apps etc to your memory card. The Desire HD comes with 4gb on the phone but you can get memory cards up to 64gb however i have a 32gb and that is more than ample for my needs.
If you have lost your phone you can track it via HTCsense.com and even wipe all the data too but it is also backed up so when you get a new phone it is all downloaded to that new phone.
The iphone 4 hasn't brought anything new to the table and the likes of HTC have over taken them with their offerings. Samsung are hot on the trail too and in the mobile industry iphone isn't as talked as like it was.0 -

Neatly sums up the current market .
IOS4 17% market share
Android 25% quarter 3 2010 .

As much as I like my HTC Desire HD, there are a couple of "facts" in the above post (ampletime's) that are incorrect. The Desire HD only has 1.5gb internal storage (at least the standard one does and I'm not aware of any "specials"), for a start. There are still nowhere near as many apps for Android as there are for the iPhone, too. There are plenty of things my wife's 3GS does that my Desire HD doesn't in that respect. The touchscreen on the DHD is far too sensitive and the standard keyboard isn't as good as the one on the 3GS. The battery life is even worse than a 3GS, too. On the plus sider, the screen is excellent and the Android folder system is much better than Apple's. The DHD has a much better camera than any iPhone, too.
I wouldn't say that either system is better than the other when it comes to being user-friendly and, in the end, it's purely a matter of what you prefer or are used to. I certainly wouldn't go for a Windows phone, I have to say. That's just me, though. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

I would agree with that but on the otherhand as i do not play games i am not missing any apps that i would want or at least i am not aware of any . Most IPhone apps i have seen have had an Android app to do the same job .
Worth checking both markets to see what you may not get with Android or IPhone .
The build for apps has been IPhone first and only recently have devs realized how big the Android market is and how easy it is to put stuff into the market . On the same point a IPhone app will be locked down tight before Apple let it into the store . Not so Android as far more are more like public betas under constant development .

I like the feel and look of the hd7 (I saw it today and had a little play). My biggest concern...as sad as it may be, is the applications thing. It's a windows operating system. I asked in store today at o2 and they said it's the smallest "app store". I loved the buses tracking thing, RBS app, angry birds, fitness apps, etc.
Ugh, what to do. BTW, the HD7 is 100£ cheaper than the iphone 4.0 -

Nope the IPhone sellers are able to charge what Apple want them to .
True cost is probably same as HD7 .
http://www.appbrain.com/ Will give you an idea of apps on Android market .
