I have managed to do a review the last three days so DY points going up nicely, was up to 4000 this morning. Toluna also going up, have been checking everyones pages and doing your opinions and polls where I can, hope I havent missed anyones. Havent got round to making up my own yet though.

My balance in My Shopping Rewards has gone to nil so hopefully a £20 cheque on its way from there, also TCB balance gone too so my A,azon voucher should be arriving soon. Will be glad to add these amounts to my spreadsheet as spent quite a bit on fabrics the last couple of days for my sister's quilt.

Those doing hand made gifts, when you put the amount spent up to the amount it would have cost, do you put the amount the materials would have cost so say I bought fabric in the sale, put what it would have cost to buy before the sale, or do you put the price it would cost to buy the actual hand made item up to how much you have spent making it?

Susan - hope your run on bad luck is at an end and things pick up for you xx

I saw another thread about people selling things they had made on Facebook. Have any of you lot seen this kind of thing? I was wondering whether it would be worth looking into to see if I can sell any of my bits I have made but wouldn't know where on Earth to start as although I do go on Facebook (to see what my family are up to lol) I don't really know the ins and outs of it. I was thinking about just showing my close friends and family first to see what they think but havent a clue what to do.
  • Susan This string of bad luck has got to end soon. I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin too xx fingers crossed he will be ok. We're all here for you when you want to have a chat x But I'm interested in seeing this giraffe when it is all up and running!

Rufus I know what you mean, it's enough work keeping up with everyone else's opinions and polls let alone have enough time to create your own! Sorry I can't really offer any advice on the craft making front (I am about as creative as a newt), but with a business mind on -is the pre-sale price so high that it wouldn't sell? Or are you not talking about selling them?

Elisya, hope the OH is better today. I had a text off mine saying he was feeling poorly, had 'had an accident' at work so was going home. Fingers crossed he puts his uniform in the wash as I don't want to go anywhere near that!! Men are disgusting.

  • Esmer glad to hear you're on the mend too. Happy birthday to your DD and hope you have a lovely time with her later. Moneymaking can wait just get yourself better x

Rufus, I saw that too (was it on the up your income thread?) If I were you I would consider making a 'Page' for your mini business. If you need any help with that just drop me a PM, I have done it for work and other ventures.

No I wasnt talking about selling them, just filling in the spreadsheet we have from this thread. I have bought some fabric to make a quilt for my sister and it was in the sales. Didnt know whether to work out how much I would save on the quilt by adding up the fabrics and seeing what it would have cost me to buy it not in the sales or whether to just find out how much to buy a ready made quilt from someone and then calculating how much I saved that way. Am I making sense lol?

Last year I made recycled magazine bags which cost me hardly anything to make as I just had to buy the zips and selotape to make them a bit more durable, the bags cost about £20 to buy one in a shop (might be more) so I know I made a big saving here, but not sure how to work it out on the quilts.

Springdreams - so sorry I've been AWOL. I'll be back to normal as soon as OH goes back to work. ;)

I have another version of the spreadsheet, a kind lady forwarded me last year. I can't use the version on the first post either - I had to get my daughter to re-do all the formulaes so they would work. I used this other version of the spreadsheet and kept it just in case. If you pm me your email address I can forward it. Can you copy it and forward it back? Can you do that? I'm not very technical. :rotfl:

Hi. I've sent you a pm. Many many thanks :)

I'd do both, see how much you saved buying the material in the sale and how much you would buy for 'off the shelf'. Is there space in the spreadsheet to do that? Can you add another column maybe?
