  • I put the same things as you michelle. I might make some muffins or some fruity bars for her for a change. On the old style board there are pages and pages of snack bars that you make yourself, like flapjacks etc. I have the link saved on my comp (I'm still on Elysia's atm) so I'll post it if I can find it again.

Do you know those lunchable things - you pay mega money and only get a little bit in them? I do those kinds of things too. Wraps with chunks of sliced ham, and a couple of cheestrings or slices of cheese, and she assembles it as she eats it. Then I do the same thing with cheddars or Ritz crackers, with slices of meat and cheese. Something different from the same old boring sandwiches every day. DD won't eat pasta cold, and won't touch rice, so I can't do those sorts of things for her. :(

  • No excuses now!! I've copied one over, does that count?! I'm going to write one (maybe more...) but not post it until tomorrow, so then I don't have to write one tomorrow :D

  • Well done hun. I'm going to do mine now.

I've just been searching for the make your own snack bar thread. It's here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/254716

I hope it gives us all a few more ideas for healthy lunchbox items. :)

  • Thanks for the tips guys. I am going to shy away from him making himself something for now, as he is only 4 still, and I am not sure how long he gets to eat. I'm going to make sure I have a good look through that thread, and I might try putting in some chunks of cheese this week and ritz or crackers.

He liked everything last week, but I can see costs spiral if you give in to demands for cheese strings and the like. I did let him have some of the tube yoghurts, but not the froobs, the cheaper ones. They are still £1 for either 6 or 8, so not cheap.

I love how we all help out here with everything, not just surveys, as it all helps spread the budget doesn't it.
  • I hope your OH is okay Emma.

Pablosmummy - have you had the scan yet?! I hope the baby's legs were wide open :rotfl:. I quite wanted to find out the sex with this baby (we didn't with our son) but DH said absolutely not, so it remains a surprise.

Been to Tesco but didn't manage to find many bargains. I did get DS a first basketball set for £1.20. It's got an inflatable ball and a small net that you hang from a tree. I also got another 2 boxes of the 1/2 price Thorntons, £6.50 instead of £13 for an enormous box. BB date is March so fine for Christmas presents. DH was dropping not-so-subtle hints about liking Thorntons, not realising that one of the boxes is for him :D.
Oh, I also got a grey woollen poncho type thing with hood. I have been needing a maternity coat as my normal ones haven't done up for months. All the maternity coats I have seen are around £60 and I can't bring myself to pay that for 3 months wear. This poncho is ideal as there is plenty of room for growth!

  • Hi everyone I am back :D

Arrived at T early and they opened the doors at 9.30 which surprised me. Found the barbie school sets and the polly pocket party boats out again. To be honest the pickings were slim, bought peppa pig figures, One of the digital frames which will be good for my grandad with family photo's on. A timmy time night timmy (my daughter is all about the timmy at the moment) and went to return and rebuy the belle doll as it was reduced again to £2.50 (£9 difference) so they refunded me. Cant complain really lol.

Skiergirl - Good luck with your ebay sales, have one ending today but is currently highest bid by someone with 0 feedback. Not sure if I should try to cancel the bid or allow it and hope not to get conned.

Elysia - Sorry to hear yo can't get to T, a bargain is great but I think I agree there's only so much new stock and it takes ages to get around everything doesn't it. Can you remind me again later to do S&S hun, wont be back until around 6ish I rckon but I have a brain like a seive today.

Pablos - good luck for your scan, hope you can find out the sex :)

Legend - ouch for the bump but glad you had a great night (and very mse indeed!)

bunbun - Glad to hear your ebay sales are going well :)

Well done on the bargains Savvy. Have a great time and I'll remind you about S&S again later.

Michelle - I know what you mean. I buy the branded ones, but only when they are on bogof or half price. I'm going to have a look through that thread again later. I'm about to do some hobnob style oatie biscuits with DD.

I've written my 600 point review (thanks to Cornish for the kick). I'm happy for the push in the right direction.

People are slow placing bids today - I know have three items (out of nine) with bids on, but all are brand new gift sets, so I expected more.

  • Afternoon everyone :D. I enjoyed a lovely lie in this morning (cant remember the last time I did that!) and have been getting some housework done since then. Need to get dressed and take my car to my uncles to fix something on it but I have no will power to do it hahaha Have just very sweetly asked my Dad and hes going to take it for me! yay!

I never did get my ebay stuff listed last weekend, so thats on the to do list today especially as I have been spending, so my christmas fund needs a lift!

Managed to get a pan for my jam making plans yay!

Was going to buy one for £35 on thursday but it was sold out, then saw one of the grabbit board today for £19, so I snapped it up! Then went and bought some jars, thermometer, funnel, labels and jar tongs! Spent £75 in total, oops! But it is all money neutral :D. And alle xcept the jars are one off expenses so should mean in future it wont cost me as much to makes gifts of jam etc. Still need tog et ingredients, a ribbon to go around the jars, a white fabric to go over the lids and some kind of packaging (got my eye on jute bags but may go for baskets if i dont have as much money left!). Very excited for it all to arrive so I can start my food making :D

thanks for the lunchbox ideas and the link elysia. I stocked up on cereal bars, blackcurrant frootz and frubes when they were all on offer. I am running out now though so need to rethink. this is the first year mine have had packed lunches so still learning!! now he is at secondary school ds1 will only take things which are cool and not out of the ordinary - so sandwiches every day! he won't take muffins, pasta or yoghurts but not sure why. I am going to make some biscuits for a bit of variety.

savvy and nicky well done on your bargains:T

giggles have fun with the jam making

hope everyone gets good results from ebay

I am going to make my biscuits whilst the dog is asleep. it's like having a baby - tip- toeing around so I don't wake him up:)

  • Just pricing up some of the stuff we need for the pup, and trying to scrounge up some amazon vouchers to pay for it. I have £5 on there already, then will have enough for £10 tomorrow on Shop and scan, and maybe about £20 on DY.

Daft as it seems, I've never had amazon from DY before, anyone, how long does it take for it to arrive? And I ordered £10 from ipsos a week ago. Is it 3 or 4 weeks now from them? The more stuff I can get from my vouchers the better, as we have a lot to get really.
