  • Hi All,
First hope u feel better soon Esmer,,its a horrible virus, feel the same but a little better today.

I have been very drained/ill/busy since sat/ My neice (20) was hard work, she went home at lunchtime today, she is feeling much better and I am glad to have her back washing/ eating/happier with the world and motivated but left me drained of all energy! She did nothing whilst here so I suggested she wash up this morning as I left for work.!!She was still in bed when I returned at lunchtime, but got up and washed up then.

My youngest was up from 12.45 till 5 am this morning, he had a raging temp and felt really ill, I woke dh at 5 as I couldnt keep my eyes open anymore! had an hour and half kip then got up and took dd to school.
Went to work for bit this morning so am really tired now. My youngest is fine now! hmm
I just gotta do tea and then go to slimming world then am doing nothing else tonight!!
This will be the first nite we havent had a relation staying since 21 dec. Glad to be back to normal with work and school. My eldest doesnt go back to school till mon 10th!

I have managed to list items on ebay turbo lister ready to put onto ebay,,may stick some more on there if have any energy later!
Had my first shop in sains yesterday and saved £2.38 in discounts, love this idea and will put it into my building society acct that has £1 in so far !!
Bought some cards and tags in sains,29p for 8 tags & 89p for 15 cards plus a box of 30 for 74p,,also bought a 'shoot' football sticker book for youngest, for £1.50 will keep it for his bday in feb.

Opened and counted my old sealed pot. Split coins and made a new pot just for this challenge. I put all 20p's & 10p's and above into my other pot on different challenge and kept 5p's 2p's & 1p's for this challenge ;-) I have £15 in 5p's 2p's an 1ps so am really pleased with a bit of a head start.
Once I have had a decent sleep and normal routine I will feel better and be able to get back to bp and surveys.
Thanks to all who post and moderate, this is a lovely friendly thread.

  • I am not sure where the best place to post this is, but I thought as many of you lovely ladies (and gent) craft I was hoping you can help me.

We recently had some devestating news which means I need to try and bring in an extra income, which is only really possible if I can do it from home. Soo as many mummies here do I want to craft and sell on my creations. The problem I am having is I have no idea where to start, I'm not sure what crafts are out there or where to dabble and which ones sell better than others.

I definately will be looking to learn a craft and do it as a hobby primarily as I have free time in the evenings and too much time to worry about money/debts etc so it would keep me preoccupied too.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction or give any advice to a newbie? :)
    Comping wishlist for 2017

  • Good luck Savvybunny, I cant help you with what to make as I dont do much craft unless its something I want for my own home.
But can suggest u ask local school pta or school if you can have a stall/table at their next fair to sell your items. They may ask for a donation or percentage for school funds or whatever they are raising money for (always something at our school!)
Its just a thought and I know they get organised earlyish for easter etc. Obviously thats only a good suggestion if you are able to attend the school fairs.
Good luck with ur venture ;-)

I love a good Tesco bargain Nellis. I come home so excited and the OH looks at me like I've gone out to lunch.

Just a quick thought to everyone on onepoll, if you can, try and check the surveys on there a couple of times a day. I've checked twice today and had 2 new surveys each time and I'm now 50p closer to £40!

Thanks for the reminder, I didn't bother to check One Poll today after weeks of no surveys. I've just been on and had 3 to do :)

Kirsty you are having a touch time with them all being poorly at the moment. At least tomorrow it will all start to return to normality. Try to get yourself an early night and start again tomorrow when you're feeling more refreshed.

Savvy I'm afraid I don't know much about selling crafts, but there might be someone on the sister thread who might be able to point you in the right direction? I've heard of others putting their crafts on Etsy and even starting a page on Facebook.

Are Opinionworld and Rewarded Opinions any good Legend and BunBun?

So sorry to hear you've had some bad news.
I have never tried to sell my crafts but do enjoy making a variety of things.
Have you tried card making before? There are so many different occassions for cards that I would imagine it would appeal to quite a wide market and is also something that people will need quite a few of. Could you make up some samples of your best cards and take them to some local shops (hairdressers, newsagents, bakery etc) and ask if they'll display them for sale for you? Or you could ask if you could leave a box of cards in the staff room of a local school or big office. You could have all the cards priced and have a little money box of sorts, then people could take a card they want and put the money in the box. You could drop by once a week/fortnight and collect the money and replensih the cards if needed.

Jewellery making - I think you can buy cheap bits for jewellery making from Ebay. You could then make items and sell on Ebay or Etsy. I don't know much about Etsy, just heard it mentioned on this forums. Or if you could make quite a few items you could have a jewellery party for family and friends and they would hopefully buy a few bits.
As already mentioned, keep an eye out for any craft fairs etc. School ones will probably be much cheaper to get a table at and will have less competition.

Gift type things - I'm thinking of things like sock cupcakes, flannel animal thingys etc like lots of people make at Christmas. Oooh, do you have a sewing machine? I found mine again recently and I really fancy making some big colourful drawstring bags. You could make simple drawstring bags out of different fabric (get some cheaply from charity shops/freecycle) and then applique different children's names or labels onto them e.g TOYS, DRESSING UP, DOLLS etc.

Whatever you choose, cheap advertising will be pretty important. If you make cards, include your contact details on the back, email is probably best. that way if someone wants a custom made card they will know how to contact you. Special handmade cards get looked at by a lot of people so it's good advertising :)

You could get some free business cards from Vistaprint and then include one everytime you sell something, either in person or through a website such as Ebay.

Hope this helps a bit :D
