    Xmas Saver!
Sugarspun - Don't you dare disappear, even your all organised by 31st Jan, ur an inspiration to people, otherwise I'll have to send Miss Hoodie to hunt you down... (lecture over!!)

Mary - Glad you managed to get the commode and bedpan, sounds daft but if it makes life easier thats all that matters. Know when mum 1st had the commode in the bedroom, she hated it, but its been a godsend and even thou 80% of the time she can get to the toilet, the other 20% she can't theres no incidents.
Don't worry about the forms, all you could do is say that you have filled in DLA forms, what stage there act, also say whether its a first application or a renewal (just thinking that 1st application they go through everything but the kitchen sink) and that way it takes the burden off u, and passes the buck (in the nicest of ways). Not sure on what the savings level is, I know if you own the house outright that didn't affect mums application.
Ours was £1,600 for the stairlift (but without being rude to mum or me, were ladies that are built for comfort not speed, so had to have a heavy duty one) that was fitting etc included. (that was covered by the grant)
For our bathrm - they've got to replace ceiling, knock down dividing wall, rip out bathroom suite, put a carers shower in where the toilet was, block up a small window, new extraction, new shower, new toilet - disabled handle, washbasin, tile to make gd, block up one door - thats been quoted at 6k, and 8 days work.
That might give u an idea of prices if you can't get a grant.

Realtoothfairy - Really sorry about MIL, hope everything goes ok, in the best of ways. Sorry theres family problems, hopefully their get sorted, I know from our side, my dad and his brother fell out with their sister, they didn't speak for 25 yrs, and she was admitted to a home and dad finally decided to go and see her, by this time she had alzimers and she didn't recognise him, or any of the family, for some reason she took to Miss Hoodie, she passed away 2 yrs ago, it was a blessing, but dad said he wished he seen her sooner. Same with mums side, she lost her brother last yr, they weren't close, what hurts us most was he was rushed into hospital, he had asbestos of the lungs among other illnesses, we were told it was immediate family only, this was the fri evening, and that he moved to the normal wards Sunday, and we could visit, unfortunatly he passed away on the Saturday, to rub salt into the wombs the other brother had been there at the hospital most of the time with him. Theres too many regrets afterwards when things can't be mended.

I guess thats why I have opened the links for DD with her paternal grandparents, - at the mo its only indirect contact, but its there if she ever wants to meet them.

Esmer - Those cakes look beautiful, your have to move closer...

CDSMiller - Def worth a try re the hard drive, hope you get it sorted.

Not much to catch up here, survived the dentist, quite weird seeing an impression of my tooth, - got new crown on and it looks natural. So plzed with that.
Been good and caught up with Open Uni - got an assisgnment to write next week, by 2mor be a week ahead.
Think we've got problems with Miss Hoodie at school, theres a girl in the class thats a bully, and shes worked her way through a few of the kids, but always does stuff out of sight, hitting under the table, pushing + thumping kids in the queue, she's picked on Miss Hoodies 2 close friends - Madam stuck up for her friends, now the tables have turned to her, were getting the I've got tummy ache... but then I don't whether shes worried as the court have set further instructions - she has to speak to the court officer, - not mentioning anything when shes around. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Morning all, was up early as youngest daugther has an exam this morning so she wanted to go in early for an extra revision lesson. I havent done much towards my quilt for a while, did have a quick go now my sewing machine is back and its working nicely but havent spent the day up there yet. OH as been off work for over a week now (not sure whats wrong, think it must be something weaker than man flu lol as no symptoms unless hes on the phone to his work) so he has wanted us to do things together. Have got a few jobs done that we have been putting off for ages though so cant complain. Now he tells me he is off until at least next Weds so will have to try to take time out to get on with my sewing.

One of my Vista orders came, I had only ordered two items, a bag and a pen. They are lovely though so put away for Christmas. Another order is on its way and I might try to do the next one seeing as they sent me an email yesterday with everything on it that I want to get. The first order tracked through TCB but the second one didnt track for some reason.

Sorry to hear about everyones woes and troubles, hope things get better soon for all of you, Rufus xx

Good morning, I'd like to follow too if you'll have me?!
I've already made a start at the presents for christmas 2011 (I think my husband thinks I have finally lost the plot!). Also, I already have enough christmas cards for this year too. I haven't had chance to read all the previous posts, so I hope I haven't missed anything I should have done already.

  • Hi everyone, I have found this one item left in the boots 75% off and it may be the nicest one on there too.

    This Works Perfect Skin Set

    http://www.boots.com/en/This-Works-Perfect-Skin_1120529/

Bargain at £5.00 as the eye serum alone is £30.00 on the boots website and the perfect hands cream is also a very good size worth around £12.00

Would make a fab Christmas present or mothers day etc...

Go quick though before they run out :)

Hi Tootoo- welcome to the thread, looks like you are well on your way anyway. My OH used to say I was mad buying Christmas cards in the sales but this year he has bought some of his for next year and he bought a box of crackers in the week reduced to £3, They are the posh looking ones they had in Co-op.

I just did another Vista order, it went through ok and I went through TCB and everything showed up in my basket so keeping fingers crossed it has tracked this time. That will be two nieces just about sorted and one half sorted, still one more to do plus the couple of extra bits for other one. I will make them something too, thinking of making them denim quilts or may be a cushion, not sure yet, depends how many pairs of jeans I can accumulate.

Quidco doesnt work for me, if I go through that it adds on all the costs and I dont get my free order, it is different on TCB?

  • I managed to pick up 4 of these mugs in Laura Ashley yesterday for £2.50 each and was also given a further 10% off at the till so 4 mugs for £9. They are very pretty and I'm thinking they will look good on a tray or in a hamper with some other items.

they also had a matching apron and oven mitt but the only one left in Glasgow was really grubby and I couldn't negotiate it below the £5.40 tag.

I've also started to make some very cheap gifts for Christmas.

I've cut up some old sheets and some tablecovers to tablemat size and have hemmed them, dyed them with Dylon and am now attaching beads, gems etc to them.

I'm also doing something similar with glass paints and gems on some nutella jars and will pop tealights in them once they are done. I may see if I can get some scented tealights.

    Hello all :j
    mum2one -thanks for the info:T

Having a bad day for walking today as left leg is really painful but, spoke to my younger son last night and he urged me to keep on doing a little of something every day like painting, sewing etc.So despite pain I sewed a couple of fabric hearts today.
    Given up now though.

Weird..........by now I'd have had all my Christmas cards sorted but I've got as far as cutting bits off the ones I had to re-use and then all this happened so I can't think about christmas let alone do anything for it.
Eyes need testing as well I think.............the optician should be able to do home visit I think and get that sorted.

Oh well, post just came and needs sorting:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

My first one this year tracked on TCB, I put everything in my basket while on Firefox, then opened TCB in Chrome, cleared the cookies and logged in and then went to Vista and opened my basket. Every thing was in there and still free, and it tracked. Second one I did the same way but when I got through to my basket for final time it had added the price on for something or other so had to keep going back and forth until in the end it was all free but then it didnt track. This one today I managed to get everything in my basket ok first time but dont know if its tracked yet, cant remember how long it took last time.

I have given up on Quidco since I changed my insurance and it didnt track. They have opened a query (its worth £50) but I took it out in June or July and still hasnt paid up yet so not holding my breath on that one.
