Hi everyone :j
before I forget, Legendmum I think it was you that asked how you subscribe to the thread - at the top of the thread page there is a box saying THREAD TOOLS. Then press subscribe.
Mum2one, I read your post yesterday on the 2010 thread about expenses for Christmas but I didn't notice at the time just how many people you buy for
Hello to all the new members, I'm sure you'll really enjoy yourselves.
So my to-do list for the next few days -
1. ds present
2. find tablecloth
3. clean toilets, change hand towels
4. get table ready
5. find baking trays, foil, serving dishes, glasses, serving spoons etc
5. matches, candle for plate warmer
6. wash hair
7. work out what time to start cooking everything
8. sofa
When I started writing the list I just remembered the plate warmer and have no idea if there are any candles and forgot about the tablecloth until I read someone's post earlier on.
So it will be a good idea to write this in my Christmas notebook as well as the cooking timeline for future reference as I can never remember what time I begin anything, so have to work it out each year.0 -
Oh what a lovely thread, have only just discovered it. I'd love to join if possible. Am an almost divorced (long story) mum to 3, dd8, ds7 and dd6, working 2 jobs to keep head above water. The idea of being more organised and hands on with xmas fills me with joy, I'm from NZ and when I was a child almost everything was homemade. I'd love for my children to get involved and help with gifts for family and friends. Will follow this thread with interest and hope to be able to take on the challenges!!!WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

Hi Kiwi, welcome to the gang :T0

I'll introduce myself too. I'm Zoe, aged 37 single with no children. Joined this thread in 2009 and it helped a lot to become more organised, save money and make gifts which are greatly appreciated.
I'll be looking out for reduced gift boxes when the shops reopen and other gift packages as still have a lot of cards, decorations and paper left over
I've just boxed up my fudge in last years DVD gift boxes and it looks lovely in there. Just about to make up the last food gifts - flavoured coffee jars and muffin in a jar then all done
Then onto cleaning - boo hiss!

mary - you rant away, hope OH is feeling better, but perhaps we should sympathise with you as you have to do extra work
mrssnowy - lol at forgetting xmas cards, I made loads, donated a load to charity then took the rest to craft fair as an after thought and sold them all.....had to make more then.
Elysia id DD has a budget of £100, thats fantastic things for it, well done you, always wondered about whether the budget should be the shop price or the price I got it at....
hi kiwichick welcome
angela - I know what you mean about list for xmas , I just read on here someone forgot to ice christmas cake.....I forgot to take mine down for DD, she lives 200 mile away....will have to give it her on 29th
Hi everyone , have a lovely christmas, we deserve it........after al this organising and money makingChallenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income :beer:0 -
Hi guys :hello:
Thanks to this and a couple more threads on here I am all ready for the fesivities this year! Thank you :santa2: My Gammon is in the slow cooker in its 2l of Cola as we speak - been there since early this morning.
I am a 36 year old Mom of 2 girls (dd1 = 11yrs and dd2 = 8yrs). I have been married to my hubby Anthony for nearly 12 years and we have been together since we were 14 years old.
My first purchase in the sales is going to be a good sized see thru box - and in this I shall put christmas cards and gift wrap and other detritus that I shall purchase in the sales and have already got here leftover this year. My friend does this and at the beginning of December she just hauls it down from the loft and has all her supplies ready.
I am also going to try and become a bit more crafty - yes I might not become money neutral but as I am about to go into my 3rd year as a Student Nurse I am not sure I will have an awful lot of free time to craft if I am not either researching or writing assignments or working on the wards I shall probably be sleeping!Donna
Economy; careful management; providence. Whether you call it thrifty or frugality it all comes down to getting more for your money.0 -
Hiya KIWI. Welcome to the thread. It's lovely here and remember you are among friends. Here's hoping you have a better 2011.
Anglea - I'm going to do that too (make a list and add it to next years folder). Brilliant idea. :j
Fedup - wow, you didn't half get a lot accomplished yesterday didn't you? :T
Susan - I take it DD is coming up to you on the 29th? Have a wonderful time.
Diddly - I save wrapping paper and cards for next year. I wait until boxing day and snap loads up in the sale. I haven't bought any at all for two years as I stocked up when woolies went bust. I only have santa and High school musical left so I need some more.
Sugarspun - I didn't ice my cake either (but there again, no-one really likes it). If I don't come on for a few days I've probably eaten some of it, and I'm laying in an alcoholic coma somewhere. There's that much booze in it and we don't drink. I was trying to use up what our next door neighbour brought us last year (vodka and brandy). He bought round some more pressies the other day and we got more vodka and brandy.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!
