Sugar and Mary, glad the trees are up and your places are just about finished xx
Mum2one, well done with the amounts, you have done a great job with your bargains this year.
We cooked the veg this afternoon for tomorrow's dinner so we havent got as much to do in the morning. OH is washing up the "special" crockery ready too. I copied a load of Christmas music over onto the computer in the dining room as its plugged into the stereo and we can have it playing in the background while we eat. I have put the camera batteries on charge and I am so looking forward to tomorrow.0 -
Hello all :xmassmile
Tidied up a few of the decorations on the dresser and sorted out some candles.........not having an open fire we've a low table near the wall and a group of candles gives a lovely warming glow (much needed as it's bloomin' cold !)
All set apart from the fact the dvd player needs tuning in -so OH says. Last year I bought two dvd's for him -Wonderful Life and Miracle on 32(or is it 34) Street. Then he fell and broke his pelvis week before christmas so not a good time to watch them really. This year slightly different but without dvd player working we're stuck. Ain't there always something !
Oh well, not to worry............there are worse things to worry about (as I know only too well)
Hope you're all ok and keeping warm:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Mary, if your dvd player fixes to the tv via a scart lead then you wont have to tune it in, you just need to change the channel on the tv to which ever one picks up the scart lead. If it fixes by a normal ariel lead then you will need to tune it in, what we used to do was play the dvd then let the tv pick up the channels and we could see which was the dvd channel.
We had the family round yesterday, it all went really well, very pleased with the day. Son loved the Thai hamper, he was getting everything out and looking at it and smelling it all lol. He thought it was a brilliant idea. He was amazed at the plates and bowls being from M&S, was saying about how we had gone up market and shopping there, I didnt tell him I got them on EB for 99p plus postage. YD's BF came round too, she is back with the one she was going out with for a year, nice to see them back together again, they do suit each other well. I hadnt got him anything seeing as they had split up and they only got back together again a couple of days ago, so this morning I bought an Amazon voucher for him, one that you print out yourself. Thought it was a good bet as then if things go wrong before Christmas I can always use it myself lol.
OH is working tonight and then every night until Friday morning so it will be creeping about trying not to make any noise for the week. I might go up the town tomorrow or Weds to meet up with my SIL if she comes down my way. YD still needs to get OH a present so will have to go up with her too sometime or another and then we will get the rest of the fresh stuff Friday afternoon when OH gets up and we will be all set.
Hope everyone else's plans are on course still xx0 -

Hello all :j
rufus - its ok now.............lad we used to foster came up and checked dvd player.........its ok, just that OH had fiddled with the video recorder ages ago and thought he might have messed the dvd player up -he hadn't as it turned out but couldn't bend down to look himself.
susie - there's a 'cookie in a jar' recipe on here somewhere -it you put it in the search box at the top of the page something should come up -failing that pop a query on the 'handmade for christmas' thread.
I did one myself last year for my neighbour.........her daughter made the cookies and brought some round for us and they were lovely.
Well not done a lot apart from made a start on knitting a hat to go with new chunky knit cardy and put together a box of 'kitchen' bits in a basket for foster son and his girlfriend. OH got some cheeses and created a cheeseboard for them as well to go with it.
So, thats another pressie sorted..............2 more to do and thats it :T
Hope you're all olk:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Nice one Mary, glad the dvd player is sorted and just two more gifts to go!! The cheese boards sounds lovely, I am thinking of doing one of those next year for my Son as well as another hamper. I will be looking in the sales for another recipe book to start me off. My ED might even like this kind of thing too, they like cooking round there as well.
I went up town with my bro and sil this morning, was very quiet up there, seemed strange being days before Christmas, wasnt even that early either. It was nice to get straight to the tills without having to queue, it was about 10.30 or later too.
I got OH's presents for YD to wrap up, just need to get on her back to get them wrapped. last year she couldnt be bothered and we had our presents in carrier bags lol.0 -
Hope everyone ok, finally got round to putting the tree up,we did buy a black one in the sale, but its done a disappearing act in the loft, luckly we have a spare... Miss Hoodie has a 3 foot pink tree in her bedroom.
Looks like I've had the 1st accident of the christmas season, sat on my old faithful seat, old computer chair, use it for when need to do anything in the kitchen... the chair collasped, I ended up bashing into the cupboard and the washing machine, so sunday afternoon in a+e... good news nothing broken, but damaged ligaments and muscles on collarbone, so been in sling... worst thing is right side, and I'm right handed.
At least xmas is organised, last few presents to deliever, rest wrapped, just few fresh bits to get then were done... xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi all

Hello all :j
mum2one - sorry to hear about your accident........maybe it's fates way of saying that its time for you to sit back and let someone look after you........so take it easy and do just that. I'm sure your mum and dad will manage ok.............was listening to Paul O'Grady and he summed it all up well I thought...........christmas dinner is just a roast dinner with a paper hat..............lol
Now I'm finally all wrapped up !!!! Foster daughters basket is a lot smaller than foster sons but he's having a lot of odds and ends from our kitchen that she wouldn't want and he and his girlfriend will love. I've popped some money in with her card anyway and made up a cheese board for foster son. Couldn't do it for her as she's allergic to cheese !
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
