    Santas Challenge...

    Pick a room
Susan and Rufus, have beaten me with this one they've done their craft rooms, choose one room that needs decluttering, and set yourself a target date and a treat.
(My craft room still needs a bit more done on it so will carry on with this and try to get some of the sewing done thats already cut out ready)

    Christmas Shopping - Food
Know this may sound mad, but think about starting a list of extras that we all buy for christmas, and set yourself a challenge to cut the list from an "I want to an I need list"- as shops will soon start bringing in christmas items, but check use by date
Oh is in charge of shopping for food so he will get what he wants to get and we don't really have a say in it all. I don't usually want much extra anyway, it only goes to waste. Not sure if we are having anyone round this year, OH is off over Christmas but havent made plans yet.

    Sales
At the moment a lot of shops are doing the summer sales, some items may be a bargain price, but ask the question do I really need it.
Have to keep a look out here for mens t-shirts as my son likes them for his birthday (May) so could get some in for next year.

    Argos
The Argos book gets changed next week, although they have had a clear out, I'm sure as soon as the new book comes out there be an even better sale...
Will keep a look our for this and see if anything worth grabbing. YD wants a phone this year and so does OH so if they have them they wont get loads of little bits too, may be just a few.

    Holiday Treats
This is the time of the year when we all wish we had bottomless wallets, but anything that you can think of that can be free or cheaply, share your best tips,

    Kitchen Cupboards
It wouldn't be a Santas challenge if we didn't have at least one cleaning job, how many of the items do you really need, - for us its cookie cutters and icecream containers...
OH spring cleans our house including kitchen cupboards nearly every day he is home lol. Its an obsession with him (I just let him get on with it) He even paints the bottoms of the cupboards every few months so they look like new!

    Pre-holiday checklist
If anyone is travelling with children, whether its a day trip or the holiday, hopefully no-one will get stuck major traffic jams, have a "I'm bored kit" ready, make sure you have spare batteries, or everything has been charged.
Dont have holidays to no need to do this one

    Revamp the Xmas List
By now we should be well underway with Christmas presents, so take some time to check lists, see what you need to get, and how best money saving we can make the presents.
My list is up to date and a lot are already done for. Need to look out for some more bits for the grandchildren and like I said, may be a few little bits of OH and YD. Need something for my Dad but a dvd or two might do him, need to get some sweets to fill up some mugs from Vista for the great nieces and nephews. OH wants a new phone, so does YD (OH is paying half of hers), and I want to get son a sat nav if I can as he doesnt have one. I have about £100 worth of Amazon vouchers towards them at the moment so will have a look and see how much I will need to get the lot out of and then I know what I have to save up between now and then.

I would like to announce that the test my husband had this morning that I was nonspecific about was a bronchoscopy and lavage because they saw a shadow on his lung and since his father died of lung cancer and DH smoked for 28 years they wanted to rule out the worst.

The worst has been ruled out. There is nothing sinister in my husband's lungs.

    That is all :)

    Hi all

Thanks very much mum2one for the new challenge. Sounds like you had a good time in Gambia as you mixed with the locals.

Sugar Spun, thank goodness you got some positive results for your OH, you both must be feeling hugely relieved.

Mary, glad OH is getting back to his normal state, without any bits and pieces attached.

Rufus, how lucky are you, to have such a good OH that loves to declutter :)

    Challenge list holiday tips -

free fruit - blackberries, apples etc by the roadside
    picnics
parks, libraries and museums do free child activities
    MSE freebies
mum2one's holiday list (posted in previous years)
children's activity books (the ones that give seasonal projects)
    I spy books

Hope you all have a good Monday.

That is brilliant news, - hopefully go back to normal, - otherwise get the liquirose (excuse spelling) ready... could always send miss Hoodie round, shes eats all the flavoured bits then chucks the liquiorse back in the bag.

    So so pleased.

Mary, don't be daft, you've got hubby to look after, and thats the most important thing of all.

You need to make sure you look after yourself as well xxx
