Its thats time of the month, Santas challenge
One for the mums - if you've ended up with a stockpile of Easter Eggs, and can persuade dd or ds - try and get creative with the chocolate - whether its the tradational cornflake cakes or something posher!
Kids didn't get many, but I will suggest making crispy cakes - will put a photo on, when they are done.
We have the Royal Wedding and another lovely long weekend off, so if you have any plans let us know?,
The challenge - design something for the Royal Wedding, whether its a bookmark, painting the date on a plate, keeping a copy of the weekends paper,
lets have our own mse gift idea...
I was going to make ribbon brooches in red/white/blue and sell them on ebay. I might still have a go, I can give them the kids to wear at their 'street party' at school on Thursday. If I do them I'll post a pic too.
Suntan Lotion / Aftersun
Just bought some, having just come back from holiday too
Aftersun lotion
Never get burnt enough to use it - if the sun gets too strong we all cover up.
Become a tourist - in your local area
Had National Trust membership for two years running so have done all the local touristy things. All except the back to back houses right in the centre of Birmingham - we never did that, because you had to book an appointment. Thanks mum2one for the idea - that could be an idea for the next bank holiday.
Your love this Tidy Up challenge - best to date!!
How do you do it?You always seem to pick the challenge that's just what I need. I'll get right onto it
The Garden
LOL beat you to it. I bought OH a gas barbeque, must have been six years ago. We tried it when we bought it, and haven't ever used it since - until last night. When I suggested ebaying it to get some of the money back, all of a sudden he wanted to use it. Elysia loved it.
Picnic Equipment
Sister bought me a very posh picnic hamper set for my birthday, and I've not used it yet. I will make plans, and use it asap.
Birthday / Christmas Lists.
All birthday cards bought (courtesy of Funky Pigeon) for the rest of the year. Birthdays are bought until November, and doing quite well with Christmas too.
£2 challenge
Elysia bought some lovely (brand new in packet) Claires earrings today for 10p. Dangly butterflies, very pretty.
What do I want?
This may seem a weird title, but is there something that you want, are you saving up for something speical, (need help from the sister thread and Elysia - to come up with a wonderful money making ideas).
This can be as much or as little as you want it to be, its not a month only challenge, its till you get the sum of money / vouchers etc
I started saving £2 coins January - Don't know what for really. I was thinking it should be for OH's special birthday in two years. He had a rubbish birthday for his 50th, we had just moved in together and money was tight. I thought I could throw a party/book a cheap holiday or something. I need to save up for a new computer too when this one (don't talk too loud) goes. I'll see what happens at the time.
I'll see if I can come up with any different money making ideas for this challenge for everyone - leave it with me.
As usual gone for the pick and mix approach, do as much or as little as you want, but misy of all have fun!!
xx,
Thanks so much for the challenges Mum2one - just what I need to get my backside into gear, I've been MIA for too long.

Hello all :j
mum2one - forgive me if I don't do all the challenges..........got enough of my own at the minute.............lol but have done
cards for birthdays and christmas,
knitted wrist warmers, hat and scarf
garden is still ''work in progress''
Covered some boxes neighbour gave me for 'pamper pots' -fill them with free samples
Thats about it I'm afraid.
Decided to have the scooter.........well it was meant to be............I'd made a ribbon key ring a while back in blue ribbons........scooter is blue.......perfect !!...........lol:rotfl:
Half pint - have sent pm to Mooloo about walking stick bag
Nothing done today..........builder/plumber chap working next door noticed our overflow was dripping -'I can fix that for you' says he. Well, 2 hours and lots of water through the ceiling, plus much banging (dread to think!) and he has.......least I hope.......I know this chap and he can be a ''bodge-it and fix-it''........so far taps and loo work and nothing leaks or drips:T Stress ?? Don't mention it !
OH was at the pub.........builder chap gave him a lift before ''fixing'' the problem we never knew we had.
Now trying to relax...............;)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Oh No Mary! How much did that set you back? No wonder he mentioned it, he's probably charging double time with it being bank holiday.
I'm glad you settled on keeping the scooter though. It'll give you back a bit of independence. You'll be fine after the first go - they won't be able to keep up with you.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Thats brilliant news about the scooter, and fingers crossed for the walking stick bag, once you get use to it, ur wonder how you ever did without it.
Don't worry about the challenge, its a pick and mix, and ur doing so well, ur keeping us all on track with the ideas for coverings etc.
Hope all got sorted with the plumber xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
elysia - no worries about plumbing being expensive.......we know the chap so it's a case of ''a few beers''. Had it been someone I don't know I'd have asked him to come back tomorrow.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Hi Esmer, glad the move went well xx
I am off out in a bit to meet OH's mum, she is coming down for the wedding to watch it on our big tv as didnt want to watch it on her own.
Been doing some more squares for my Dad's quilt but have run out of the messages, need some more people to bring theirs round and I can do some more.
Have also been making some cushion covers to sell but have run out of black thread so that will have to wait too. Good job we have a busy week and weekend to keep me occupied lol.0 -
Hello all :j
esmer - glad the move went ok. Sounds like you're really settled and happy:T
I've not done much. Went to physio yesterday -felt like a bit of waste really. Just told to keep on with the exercises I'd been given 2 weeks before but to increase them a bit. Back again in a month.
Friend with a second hand shop had a recliner chair in for £90...........been after one since christmas so went and tried it out for comfort..........bliss ! Like the sofa for watching tele but it'll be nice to have a comfy chair to do my knitting in or reading. It's being delivered tomorrow and the chaps putting our old one down the drive. The 'man with a van' we know keeps saying he'll clear the rubbish we've got in the garden and garage, told him about the chair.......this weekend he said. Well he said that last weekend so we'll see. If not I'll have to pay the council to take it away. 3 items for £15 -I'm sure I can find two more to make it more worthwhile.
If he doesn't soon start clearing the rubbish (he knows he's being paid for it) we'll get a skip. Oh, maybe the chair could go on that............hmmm...:)
OH had three appts through from hospital for next week........Tues.Wed and Thurs !! Tues. is MRI scan and the consultant wants the results of that for when he sees him on Wed. Thurs. is bone scan. I tried to get them all put together on one day but can't be done it seems. OH most put out...........hates hospitals at the best of times let alone 3 times in a week. Still, has to be done. I'm going with him when he sees consultant -might know more whats going on then.
Garden still ''work in progress''..........hopefully someone from freecycle will pick up the surplus plant pots before the weekend. I'm fed up seeing them.
Oh hark at me having a moan.........must stop it !
Back to the knitting I think..............lol:)
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I found when I had physio on my arms it didnt do any good so know what you mean Mary. You do seem to have a lot on your plate at the moment what with one thing and another.
Have been dropping hints to OH that I wouldnt mind going to Dunelm Mill, I need some more wadding for my Dad's quilt and would like to see if they have any nice fabrics in their reduced bit to make the backs of the cushions I am making. Think I will leave them just as cushion covers as will be easier to post if I actually sell any of them.0
