I'm new to this voucher malarky. Can I use them with my online tesco shop or do I need to go instore?

  • Hi, print off as many printable vouchers as you can including the latest Calypso(25p) & the whiskey one (£2.50). Put the ones that have clear barcodes on top and try your luck at Tescos. It's worth trying as the savings are considerable. I have saved over £100 in the last month. Give it ago and let us know how you get on. Good Luck!

  • It looks like Tesco are changing their policy - the tesco at bursledon, southampton are now saying - as of 13/09/04 thye will only take vouchers for the items you have actually bought  :(

    has anyone else seen this?

I received the following email this morning:

Thank you for contacting us regarding our policy on the acceptance of coupons.

This policy includes those that have been printed from the Internet. We accept these also at all our stores.

Any coupons, which display the Tesco logo, are Tesco specific. We only accept these if the products referred to on the coupons are purchased. This is because we negotiate savings with our suppliers on the condition that these actual products will be purchased.

With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. However, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of products.

There is no set limit on the amount of coupons you can use, but the acceptance of a large number of coupons is at the discretion of the Store Manager.

Please note we do not accept coupons from other retail stores.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain our policy.

    Regards

    - So they should still be accepting at least one voucher of each kind you present to them, unless you have tons of different ones and they want to be crappy about it.

Sadly, no more coupons from other retailers! I think the £3 off a £30 shop kind should still be OK, even though it wasn't mentioned in the email.

Feel free to copy and print this out if you want. If they ask, it was sent to your friend Marion Evans, in Surrey.

  • Thanks Marigold123 - went to Tescos last night and they refused to take any coupons even though I had bought the products. Kept asking for my Clubcard though - which I didn't have of course. The Supervisor was called and told me in a loud voice "we only accept coupons if you have bought the items" "Well I have" so only ending up getting £2.50 off a £60 shop.

Still it weren't all that bad - got 10 Healthy Living meals (BOGOF) and used the £2.00 voucher - worked out to 94p each instead of £2.28!

I hadn't pushed a load of coupons at the operator - I just said - I got some coupons here - immediately she called the Supervisor - who again asked for my club card.

Off course as well you know one would only be using coupons against products bought in these circumstances - which I was - so why keep asking for my clubcard?

Strange attitude - I felt they were trying to identify me - but don't worry - I won't talk!!!
  • Just wanted to know if these vouchers are still printable?

I am a bit late taking up this one, but armed with the latest response from Tesco head office I intend to give them a go.

I have just tried downloading the document, and my computer says it doesn't recognise the bitmap file. Can anyone help me on it?

    Thanks
  • Is there an update to this file?  Have already down loaded it a few months ago, but wondered if it had been updated recently, and whether I would be able to get a copy?

Also, has anyone recently had problems with the Durex voucher? My local Tesco state that the numbers on the bar code are not correct for the voucher, and that is why they will not accept it any more.
  • Loobeylou,

The Durex voucher has been rejected by the manufacturer - probably because it was such a good one that we all used it and they had too many of them so the voucher is not accepted by any Tesco store - the barcode has been blacklisted from their system which is shared across the country.

My Tesco is still accepting as many as I can print - but I still get nervous everytime I go in there and I always tell the person that queues behind me that I am going to use coupons and they may need to call someone - stops them tutting at me! I also 'train' up a check out operator and if they are nice - I ask them their shift pattern and stick to the same person. Then I say happily " See you next week". I don;t go in every day - I think if you abuse the system then it will be changed. So I get what I want as normal and then I get the discount and I am a happy bunny. I used to go to Sainsburys as it is closer - but I don't anymore so Tesco's still winning!

ah well - I think I will be doing an Asda shop from now on, Tesco's are very silly I think. You can no longer use vouchers like this at my Tesco - only when you buy the item. :)

  • I've also just started using the vouchers. The Durex ones won't work, but on the 2 occasions I've been to tesco's recently, I've just handed over a few coupons and asked them if they will go through. First time, I used all 3 Finish ones and a couple of others. Second time, the young lad said 'these are photocopies' I just said ' nope, they're off the internet and you do take them'. Another couple of quid off. I'm not pushing it - we don't want to bite the hand that feeds us, do we?
