Hermes delivery

I had to laugh, I booked a collection with Hermes via P2G. The item was a dog ramp, which was quite large. The Hermes courier turned-up in a Ford Focus (not the most spacious of cars), looked at the parcel and commented "I don't know if I can get that in, it's rather large and I already have a huge load of parcels". I simply replied with "well, for £1k, I can sell you a van that complies with Hermes' requirements for their home couriers". She wasn't happy.Never Knowingly Understood.

It sounds like an office mistake (Hermes or P2G}probably should have sent a van that deals with light and large, they have on record the vehicles we drive.
I wonder why your courier wasn't happy she must be new, she'll get used to it and learn how to deal with it!;)0 -

Not surprised! There's nothing worse than a know-it-not telling you how to do your job is there
Incidentally, what are the Hermes "requirements"? I love a good fairy story :T0 -
When I worked for them there was no "requirements" people even delivered in the smallest of cars. I have driven away in an estate car with the back seats and boot filled to the brim and the passenger filled so high you had a job to see. If your then expected to fit in a large return then there is just no way its going to fit. For only 40p a parcel that gets delivered they certainly expect a lot of their couriers who are sometimes mums trying to work around their children.0

Had good service both sending and receiving, as people say it seems hit and miss on your local folk scurrying around.

I'm still waiting on a desk that was dispatched from Next on 24th Dec, every day it says "Out for Delivery" then changes to "Courier Received" then at the end of the day it changes to "Carried Forward". Any idea what that might mean?! I've tried to ring Hermes but they say only Next can deal with the enquiries, Next have said they'll chase it for me but I don't hold out much hope...My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -

It means that the item has been received by the courier that is going to deliver it to you, but for some reason they are then unable to deliver it, so they are carrying it forward to the next day to be delivered then. It hasn't been sent back to NEXT or Hermes, from what you're saying. Perhaps the courier is sick/has given up the job and there isn't a cover courier available, and that's why your delivery is being delayed. It obviously shouldn't be the weather now.0 -
Could someone please give me Hermes contact number? I tried 08712461583 and got through to MyHermes and was told that MyHermes is different to Hermes.
I am furious about a delivery that I have not recieved! On the tracking it says delivery has been attempted twice but no call card has been left and no knock on my door whatsoever!!! I am furious! Retailers weren't helpful either.
So could someone please give me Hermes number?0 -
I don't know about MyHermes being different to Hermes, but if you have ever seen one of their blue cards, a (My?)Hermes number won't help you much because they have no contact with the drivers during the day. You have to trust that the driver will keep trying because apparently he won't get paid unless he delivers successfully. The cards just tell you that the driver will try 3x and then the parcel will be sent back to sender (Hermes don't have a depot you can visit to collect yourself).
I have one experience of where the driver did in fact keep trying beyond the fourth card - inadvertentently I'd forgotten to tell my seller that I'd be away for a week immediately after the purchase - the parcel did find me eventually - I wish you luck !0 -
Same happened with me and a Debenhams order - took three weeks to deliver a "guaranteed" 4 day delivery large item. Never managed to work out whether it was Debenhams not sending it out, or Hermes losing it. Ended up having the order cancelled. And then it arrived. Spent ages on the phone trying to sort it out and they had (eventually) to recharge the card. Worst purchase ever, despite the alleged bargain price for the furniture. Annoyingly the Hermes courier that delivers small items is wonderful.
I would persist in phoning Debenhams and get them to talk to the courier (though this will take a minimum of three working days as apparently they are not allowed to direct call the company), then when they don't bother to phone you back to tell you what is going on you get to phone them again, yay!Once that happens though it may well kick start a trace to find out where the item has gotten to and then a delivery (which happened to me). Hope it turns up for you! You won't get an apology for Debenhams from the delay though unless you bug head office and wait a week...
