You're right Mags I do always get deals, suppose I just spens a fair bit on going oot. I love that tho and it makes it all worth it for me but if I could cut this slightly and save a bit for bigger (still social) things it would be great!

I dont use cards or go over budget, you're right I'm pretty good really!

Mum is feeling much better today, had lots of fluid in and out as her white blood cells are crap and she needs a wee perk up every so often. Still havent spoke to her but speaking to Dad every day and he has agreed to take her mobile in to the hospital tomorrow so I can send her a wee goodnight text!

Glad your mum is doing ok, best that she stays in hospital where she will have to rest.

About the money spent on social life--socialising is what you do, probably a big part of your identity so it's pointless trying to become a person who sits home every night. Try reading this, from that Happiness Project book I like, she thinks we should work with what do like instead of what we want to like. http://www.happiness-project.com/happiness_project/2008/10/paradoxes-of-ha.html

She's right! and so are you Mags. My socialising money IS surplus every month after bills are paid and savings are made and it IS what I do. If I spent £10 a week on say birdwatching and i was a birdwatcher then that would be fine, it's because it's on something that could seem a bit frivolous that I guess I soemtimes feel I should cut it a bit.
I'm NEVER going to sit in every night, the idea is to see if I could save this and not miss it and I think I maybe could pop a bit of my SPENDING money into a pot for something fab and then have it for that rather than random pints and wine all over the shop. Still planning a night out on Friday and having fun, just a challenge to myself to see if I could use some of this for something really ace but thanks so much for you're lovley comments. Having fun and going out IS a big part of my identity and I wouldnt enjoy not doing that, just going to try doing it a bit more cheaply X

You are so lucky for Museums in Glasgow, I love Kelvingrove, The People's Palace, The Burrell Collection and The Transport Museum which are all free and I am working my way around the rest :D

I have also been to the Tenement House (a few times so I can get people to understand how great they are :D) and The House for an Art Lover which you have to pay for but are just wonderful :j

Most of them have good cafe's too. So get out there and make use of them, and send them my love while you are at it - I will be back just as soon as the new Transport Museum opens so if you hear a date let me know please :D

Glad Mum is feeling a bit better, but grrrr to her not wanting visitors :( My poor Mum never got a choice, we just turned up, checked she was OK and left if she looked tired or grumpy. We just had to check for ourselves :o

I'm with you Souk, every so often I make grand plans to stay in all the time and be really good with my money and have massive savings but it never works cos I love going out too much and if I spend too much time at home on my own I start going a bit mad. I was awful in Jan when i was sick and didn't leave the house for 4 days in a row and didn't do anything social for over a week.

Although I do love my own space and sometimes a day out on my own is what I really need!

I do need a bit more balance though and shall be interested to see how you manage it.

Would be good to reach the end of month not overdrawn, maybe work out what my nights out actually cost and properly budget for them??? hmmm worth thinking about.

I shall come back and read that happiness project thing too soon.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

    Hiya lovely,

sorry to hear you're mum's in hospital & hope you get to see her & give her a hug soon.

I wouldn't be too bothered about the spends - it's your disposable income & good for you for disposing of it in such a fun & enjoyable way :j.

Before I had responsibilities I actually went out every single night for an entire year. That was in the days of cheap rent while living with parents & I had a tab at my local bar to help with booze funds for the week before payday :o but wow did I have fun :D.

Hey all, thanks a lot for your kind words. I can be a bit hard on myself at times.

Lula fun is what it's all about for me. On that note I am sitting in tonight [STRIKE]farting[/STRIKE] enjoying some me time and eating chocolate. Tis time of the month so I can if I like!!!

I padded another £5.02 today taking my June fund to 7.02 already. It will be champagne, champagne for everyone at this rate! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

In all the palaver with Mum I forgot to say that I bought two dresses for work the other day. It cost me £30 for the two with discount and they are very lovely. New clothes range and discount start tomorrow so I may buy one more piece before payday and then a couple after. :j

Came in in a foul mood from a busy day at work, am back in at 7am tomorrow and there's a letter in to tell me that my rent is going up. Only by £15 a month but if it gets any higher I fully expect to get National Trust status. It's a tiny one bed !!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I start early so finish early tomorrow and will come home and do nails etc before my night out tomorrow with my gay husband and my sometime FWB. I'll try not to spend too much...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
