The problem with the tool might be that it doesn't bring enough commission to bother updating it, compared to some pages with lucrative links to banks, insurance etc. But it should definitely be taken down.

Yup it's singularly dragging down MSEs reputation as the goto info source.

To me MSE totally lost credibility a few years ago it turned out that although they stated that affiliate links helped pay legal bills when they were challenged by the big boys, in reality they were making millions.
The whole purpose of this site it so make money through affiliate links, in the same way it turned out that comparison sites don't actually give you the best deals, but the ones that make them the most commission.

Let's be honest, nobody should be naive enough to think that MSE exists for any other reason than making money. It might save us money along the way but be sure the site owners are making a LOT more than we save.

If you need some evidence just google for "companycheck moneysavingexpert.com limited".

The issue is not about making money, but misleading people over it. The site had been using Skimlinks for years, and it was declared, but it specifically said that it was to cover legal expenses.
Personally I don't care if sites are making money, so for example was happy to use comparison sites as well when they did help you find the best deal (the cheapest for you, not the highest commission for them...).
And it's important to reiterate these things because some people are naive, or simply were not around at the time.
Anyways, I've gone well off topic, back on track now....

Went to make 1899 a call. Voice said "half a p. per minute" this up from "zero p. per minute" Was I not paying attention?? Have they told us this was happening & I didn't notice, & if yes, when?? To add insult to injury they seem impossible to get in touch with!!

What's the issue? They have informed you of the price rise before you made the call. You have a choice to accept it or find another solution. This is exactly the same outcome as if they had emailed you for example a week before the price rise. You would have the same end result and choices!

I have the normal plusnet home phone tariff. i used to call those international call service number such as telediscount to China.

It was claimed by telediscount that the cost is 1p/min with connection charge. I found that the connection charge is flat 21p and the actual call charge was 3p/min before June 2015. Now it's a whooping 10p/min.

So if you have a better option to cal home, try to avoid using those 0844 numbers on your home phone.

I have just noticed this and now it is no longer the cheapest I will have to go and take all the 1899s that I have programmed into my phones.

Who do you think is cheaper then 5p connection and 0.5p a minute then.
