Looks like we are having to work out these charges ourselves, as MSE have not updated any of the information. I understand that they probably don't get much referral revenue from the call checker, but it's a very useful tool and I'm sure right now it would really help us avoid all these charges.0

Yes agreed ..... really really useful! I have been using this for years now & so have many of my friends & colleagues! Please MSE can you update this & if you are still researching an update re alternatives please can you put a note as such!! At the moment it is very misleading & incorrect ...... Or someone like https://www.dialacode.com which can be used from the majority of the main uk mobile networks ,payg or contract.0 -
We are regularly calling Germany, South Africa and Australia using the cheap access numbers. In May, we paid an average of 2p per minute. In July, we were charged an average of 10p per minute for using the same numbers! We are wih ICUK and have not informed of the actual access and service charges. What was meant to bring more clarity has resulted in the opposite plus enormous call costs increases. We were just fortunate that we did not make as many calls in July! We are going to use VOIP in future.0

Your using a business only supplier are you not.
The new charging system (the access and service charges) applies to calls made from residential lines and consumer mobile phones. However, Ofcom anticipates that providers may extend the same pricing arrangements to business customers. You should speak to your supplier if they have changed your tariff without informing you.0 -

PLEASE MSE, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO FIX THE CALLCHECKERS, DELETE THEM COMPLETELY UNTIL YOU CAN DO SO.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I agree, I think they should remove it if they are not intending to update it.
I've not been round much lately, but it looks like things have definitely changed round here, MSE used to be the place to go for things like this.0 -
Is anyone from MSE reading these posts? Just wondering if anyone is monitoring this to understand the confusion at the moment!
Personally I am just using my mobile at the moment for all calls, wattsapp for friends & downloaded Viber for friends. I never thought my mobile w/b cheaper than my landline but it is now!
Daytime calls to companies & overseas calls are a problem still!
I am not using BT for any calls at the moment .... Ofcom have made it worse not better in most cases with these new rules! I think the phone companies have seen this as a way of ripping us off even more with these new per min access charges! We are all much worse off now!0 -
I also use mobile (Three) for all 03x shortish calls nowadays.
Three also has a long list of countries you can call for 3p/4p per min by adding a 3 digit prefix.
The landline providers seem bent on making themselves obsolete.0
