  • I've noticed on my bill, and checked on their on-line price list, that most 0844 and 0871 charges are higher with TalkTalk than BT, and than shown on the Call-checker site.
    so....
    BT.......TalkTalk
    0.5p -> 1p ;
    1p -> 2p ;
    1.5p -> 3p ;
    2p -> 3p ;
    2.5p -> 2.5p ;
    3p -> 5p ;
    4p -> 6p ;
    5p -> 5p ;
    6p -> 8p ;
    7p -> 9p ;
    8p -> 8p ;
    9p -> 9p .

    But, even so, they'e vastly cheaper than Virgin Media's charges for calls to such numbers.
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    But the poster does have a valid point the call checker prices for Talk Talk dont tie up in many cases with the actual prices Talk Talk Charge.

    See: http://www.talktalk.co.uk/products/talk/other-uk-destinations.html

    0844 G22 band call checker says call costs 0.51 a minute . Talk Talk now charge 1.02

    Important! How this tool works

    It's important you understand the strengths and limitations of this MSE tool. The prices are computer generated and while we aim to provide the best information possible, it's not perfect and there can be errors.
    Always check prices on websites before dialling and note you use the information at your own risk. We can't accept liability if things go wrong.

    Come on Heinz. You can expect errors in the cheap call providers prices from time to time,which are changed frequently,but you would expect Talk Talk standard prices to be correct as they dont change from day to day. If they can get BT right why not Talk Talk.:D

    It's going up again in April 2011 to 12.5p per call. It's 11.5p at the moment!

    I also use 0844 calls via Talk Talk and have seen a sudden increase in charges on my bill (the 3p / min is now 5p with Talk Talks additional charge)

    I've also noticed that when I dial 0844 calls the per minute charge is announced as usual together with a new additional sentence 'plus other operator charges' (or something to that effect)

    I think TalkTalk have cottoned on to another money raising opportunity:mad:

    I have just moved back to BT from Equitalk and wanted to know their charges for your international call providers.

    I have found out that a call to an Australian landline on 0844 200 xxx is charged as a g22. Looking at this:

    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumer/assets/downloads/BT_PhoneTariff_SpecialNos.pdf

    I see code g22 = - Calls not including Internet Services 0.509 0.509 0.509

    My question is, are these cheap calls advertised on websites classed as "Internet Services"?

    TIA

    No, they're not.

    BTW, the £0.00509 (0.509p) prices you see there are the old ½p/minute rate (after the 4/1/11 VAT increase).

  • I used Budget.com number to call South Korea. It happened several times that I was cut off soon after connection, thus incurring multiple connection charges. It might be cheaper per minute, but not if you keep having to pay connection charges.
