  • Hi
If u search to call India Landline from your Landline, u see an option with Mondotalk. It says it is 0p/min. That means its free! But I dont see how it is free. It is free for PC-to-PC calls. But so are all the IMs. The query is for Landlines. Is that an error or am I missing something?

    Thanks
  • It was quite interesting to note that MSE has come up with something like this - finding cheap call provider. Congratulations for whoever has come up with this idea. I do know there are other websites which provide similar information. But I believe MSE's list is unbiased.

I was about to report regarding Teletop and MondoTalk. eagertosave has already mentioned the catch I found regarding MondoTalk.

Regarding Teletop, it charges 5p connection fee which I think was missed including in your database.
  • I've been looking for a list of Primus call charges (specifically for these non-geographic override numbers) but couldn't find them. How did MSE get them?

You would have to ask primus what they charge for 0844/0871 calls as the only call info they publish is this

    http://www.primussaver.co.uk/HomePhone.aspx

You might be better off by using www.localphone.com for your intl calls if you have inclusive minutes as their is no connection charge unlike 0844/0871 access.

    Also consider www.18185.co.uk

    That's an interesting question.

They must be online somewhere because MSE very specifically states:
It's important you understand the strengths and limitations of this MSE tool. The prices are computer generated and while we aim to provide the best information possible, it's not perfect and there can be errors.
Additionally, I know they're updated overnight by an automated 'trawl'.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Anyone know what the VOIPCheap start-up fee per call is? They make reference to it on their site but I've been unable to locate what the actual charge is.

The 10.9 connection fee for the 0844 providers is ridiculous, OfCOM should stop BT and other landline providers from stifling fair competition in this way.
  • what are the thoughts about tesco's international calling card?

currently they have a 50% off (£10 credit for £5) offer.

the rates seem pretty competitive too - cheaper than the tool offers up for some countries
  • This is shown as the cheapest provider to Georgia at .5p/min with a 5p connection fee. However the access number is 'at normal provider's rates' so is the total cost of the international call- 'normal rate' PLUS .5p/ min which could be a lot more expensive than the cheap rates from landlines at 2p/min only? Can anybody who has used this service please advise. Thank you.

[STRIKE]The clocks on the International CallChecker are wildly inaccurate - at 12:48pm GMT it was showing the time in Norway was 00:18 hours and, in France, 14:48 hours!

I've reported it again to admin.
    [/STRIKE]
    Fixed 14:24 GMT 6-1-11

  • This is great.

Just wish there was a Virgin (Call International) checker now :)
